Brother tells 10 year old daughter of study she can't pray while he's there

I think I've mentioned this before, but it's appropriate here. An elder made some snide comment about a picture collage in the WT last year where a man is met in door-to-door, starts studying, shaves off his beard, starts preaching, then gets baptized. His comment was about how we can see his spiritual growth, because he shaved off his beard. Right behind him, sat somebody's study who was attending the hall for the first time (first time I'd seen him and I was at every meeting). He had a full beard. First and last meeting.

    EPIC WIN.

I am glad the mother didn't answer. Who wants to see their child traumatized? Hopefully, she won't answer in the future.

    WONTLEAVE:

I would have felt bad for that brother with the beard - having to hear this nonsense and I am glad he stopped going. So, they lost another one. Good.

Good for him to expose the flaws of the organisation without fear. For some brothers they are so rigid that these statements are a reflex action. After all in the hall no one would question his stand or approach it is the law. Good for the mother seeing the light so quickly she has much to thank her daughter for.

I can think of a few people who were cut from the same tree as him.

My JW hubby was paid a backhanded compliment by an interested outsider. After asking him a few questions about his faith, she observed that he is very honest about what he believes, without apology. Not like most Witnesses. Most Witnesses are canny enough to know that some of their requirements look downright nasty to outsiders, and play it down.

God bless all honest Witnesses, who demonstrate their beliefs in all boldness, in all circumstances. They are the best "witness" as to why not to join.

The Witnesses not seeing a larger picture. Was Paul writing about relationships between the sexes within the family, Christian congregation and larger society or was Paul leaving minute instructions on what type of hanky to place, how to secure it, detailed rulings on who needs to use a hanky and when. I truly believe Paul would not give a damn about the hanky. There prob. was some larger significance to it in Roman days. Culture moves on.

I despised Paul when I was active. Reading by myself and thinking more, I now see Paul as a great theologian and even feminist. Husbands could kill their wives for any reason when Paul wrote. Wives were property just as slaves were.

I still despise Paul. His brand of Christianity is nothing like Christ established in the gospels.

How many commandments did Jesus give? Love God and love your neighbor. Can anybody think of any others? Why doe shte WT insist on rules rules rules. I swear the WT has more rules than the Mosaic Law covenant + the burdens the Pharisees put on. Not only that, sometimes it seems the WT is even more rigid and unforgiving!

Hopefully, that blows the whole study.
