I never had a best friend at school. I didn't really have a best friend til my wife. I would watch stupid buddy cop action movies and feel sad that I didn't have someone to argue with and catch bad guys.

I had a friend at school whoncould have been my best friend. Problem was I kept making up excuses as to why I couldn't hang out after school. I wish I had just said "I'm sorry, but even though you are Christian, my religion says that any non Jehovah's Witnesss are bad association so I cannot hang out with you."

The people who I thought were best friends weren't. They were conditional. The best friend I've ever had (other than my dear hubby) is a very dear cousin of mine. We had a falling out but reconnected because we still really loved each other.

"Boo" and Diane, dear Miz Sylvie (the greatest of love and peace to you!). I met both when I was 12. I still keep in touch with Boo (although we're not as close, due to the whole JW thing), but lost touch with Diane after the birth of my son (who is 29 years old today!!).
Now that I think of it, I should give Boo a call...
