It doesn't have to be "real" as long as it feels real to the evildoer.
In fact, now that I think about it, the entire concept of eternal torment (aka. hell) could have been created historically not by charlatans or myth-makers but by people with near-death experiences.
A former JW friend drowned at a young age. My friend was underwater and
clinically dead for almost 30 minutes after being pulled from the water.
During that period of time my friend saw and communicated with relatives she knew only from
pictures because they had died before my friend had been born. My friend also saw and communicated with
family and friends who had died during my friend's lifetime. My friend did not want to 'come back' when one of those
people said that this was a real experience but my friend could not stay and it was so my friend would know that paradise
is real.
When my friend recounted the experience after being resuscitate JW family members reported it to the elders
and my friend was warned not to say a word about the experience. From that moment on my friend said that
my friend knew the JW's did not have the truth but stayed in the lie because of the "Where else can I go?"
syndrome instilled by the WTBTS. When the 1995 generation change was published and studied my friend quit attending meetings.
About 10 years later I personally witnessed my friend being saved by the power and might of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ of Nazarene.
My friend is now a Christian and the WTBTS, the JW cult, the charlatan Governing Body and satan have no power over my friend.
I have known this person for over 20 years and literally watched the transformation as my friend went from a slave to men to a child of God.
