My doctor recommends eating every 2-3 hours, and a target calorie range of about 100 less than your basic metabolic needs. Protein at every meal. Minimum of 30 minutes daily of cardio (walking) and 30 minutes of strength training three times a week.

Within 6 months I dropped 35 pounds. A friend of mine lost 70 pounds in the same time period,

The absolute bummer for me was weighing and measuring and documenting everything. It felt like I was developing an obsession, and I really didn't like that feeling once the weight loss started to plateau and I had some time for introspection. Plus, Mr Scully started following the same plan and he expected me to do all his weighing, measuring and documenting for him too. So I decided "Screw it! I'm not doing this."

Last year I read the Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson, a friend had lost 30 pounds following it. By just avoiding grains and potatoes, rice and pasta and upping my veggies and fruits I lost about 17 pounds. Never felt hungry at all. I need to break it out again and actually focus on it. I could stand to lose more (but those 17 pounds have stayed off.) The author has a website marksdailyapple dot com.

I big thing about the paleolithic diet is a balance of the omega oils. In a modern diet, we don't get enough omega3. Paleo diet, based as it is on largley on greens, and animals that uesd to eat green grass, makes the oils balanced. That is a major factor in health and disease prevention, because getting enough omega3 helps prevent inflamation. Inflamation is at the root of many, many diseases and disorders, including hardening of the arteries w plaque, bowel disease, brain function, to name a few. It basically prevents the body's immune system from overreacting, as it generally does, and attacking itself.

Fish is a good source. If you can't be bothered w fish, everyday, one tablespoon of organic flax oil is about the right amount to balance things. It can easily be added to almost any greasy type dish, like spagetti sauce, soup, stir fry, etc.

Ps, yah, i know, i said spagetti. Well, i don't stricly follow the diet. I do get a tblspoon of linseed oil almost every day, though.

When you discover that your cult leaders were wrong, you have to chuck out everything they said and start from scratch.

Look at your oldest indigenous groups and they all value fat.

Is fat really the problem, or only how modern animals are fed?

Have you been asking the right questions?

Ummmm they had about a 25-30 year lifespan. If they were lucky.

They weren't lucky. They didn't have 21st Century drugs, hospitals, antibiotics, paramedics, laser sights, carbon fibre, nylon, fluorocarbon

I'm with you metatron! I've done both those diets, and I lost MAJOR amounts of weight and improved my overall blood panels. I feel healthier, more energetic, no brain fog, etc. It really IS the way to go. And for those who say it's not a one-size-fits-all thing, well I've seen many people of many different body types do these diets and the weight loss and improvement in health was significant. It's eating the way humans evolved to eat.

Now, a cow that's factory farmed isn't going to be as healthy to eat as a cow that's grass-fed and free range, I'll give you that. Buffalo and other wild game are the healthiest and leanest meats to consume (and they're yummy). A factory farmed cow is fed corn (which it was NOT evolved to eat) along with bone meal from other cows, chicken dung and feathers, etc. A cow is a HERBIVORE, yet humans force them to be OMNIVORES and this results in illness and disease in the cows. That "marbling" that people love so much in their steak? A grass-fed cow doesn't have that...or if it does, it's not NEARLY as much. THAT is unhealthy fat formed by the diet the cow eats. THAT is why beef is recommended in small servings every once in awhile. But a healthy cow that's fed a healthy natural diet produces healthy beef. It's common sense. WE get sick & diseased because our FOOD is sick and diseased when it's alive.

Scully is very right. Just cutting out a few hundred calories from your diet and exercising will help you lose weight.

It's better to make a goal that takes you longer that try to cut back calories so much to meet a certain date. This will discourage you. You don't necessarily need to keep up a detail log book, although it helps at the beginning to get a feeling on how much you are consuming. Once you got an idea of how much calories are in various types of food you can just do a mental picture.

Do what Scully said in her post and you will see results. Guaranteed or your money back!
