av8orntexas..... yeah, the hurricanes were pretty bad. My daughter still lives in Orlando, and would love to move out of the State.

I've been through one since I've been in Texas and had close calls with Katrina and Rita.

Hopefully she can find somewhere that is a comfortable fit for her if Mass isn't it.

I like it here, but it's the HOTTEST place on earth if you ask me.

I like the seasons in New England... and the landscape... it's not flat like Florida... we actually have hills here...and lots of history.

I couldn't agree more. My dad lives in Miami and as flat as the Houston area is ( and it is )... the Miami and south Florida area are amazingly flat, lol

I don't think I truly appreciated all the history when I was living up there. When I finished my last two years of High School down here, my teachers that it was such a big deal that I had seen Plymouth Rock,or the USS Constitution ( stuff we seemed to do every year for field trips, lol )

There's a spot in Roxbury not far from where my aunt used to live when I was really little. It sat atop a hill and at dusk you could get the best picture of Downtown Boston and all the entire skyline.

Are you in the Boston area ?

Grew up in Westwood. Now I live about 20 minutes outside Boston, on the south shore. Are you talking about Savin Hill?

No. Actually my aunt lived in Fields Corner ( she no longer lives in Boston.) , next stop over from Savin Hill ( great place to watch planes land at Logan depending on the landing config they were using ) on the Red Line. My cousin just moved from Braintree to GA about a year ago. It was a place in Roxbury, down the street from where my aunt attended the hall. We would turn onto a street and it was three streets met at once. One at the top of a hill. Every night we'd go to the meeting I'd comment on how nice downtown was in the sunlight. I don't think anybody every paid me any attention.

I grew up in Dorchester,my mom worked at Gillette for many years.

I now find myself in suburban Houston a world completely different from the Boston I grew up in. I fly to Boston a couple times a month sometimes, usually to have chinese food and walk around downtown.

I live in NH (in what's predicted as the 6" - 12" path of this coming storm), but work down in MA just outside of Boston. I'm one of those firm believers in Winter tires for Winter, Summer tires for Summer. I still have the studded winters on the car and have no apprehension about this (hopefully) last storm of the season. I wouldn't leave New England for anything! We have it all here...all four seasons, great sports teams, dunkin donuts, history, stable economy (compatatively)...who would ever want to leave this beautiful part of the world?

I lived a few years in Boston. The best thing about it is the quick witted, smart people. I really enjoy them. I also lived in Southern New Hampshire, and attended the Derry, NH Kingdumb Hall. I remember the JWs there didn't like their license plates, or those round plaques some people put on the outside of their homes (can't remember the name). Seems the JWs were super scared of witches, demons, etc. The New Englander JWs were more superstitious then the Southern JWs, and they were pretty bad too.

Haha! I'm just glad that Spring training is over --- FINALLY! All those Sox fans who say "wicked awesome" and the like and who clog up our roads are gone for another 9 months! This morning, the traffic was so much lighter - it was a breath of fresh air. The only downside - next year when they are back for Spring Training, my taxes will be going to the new Stadium that they had to have - and it's just down the road from my house. GRRRR. I'll have to put up with their "wicked stupid" driving again. But for now, I'll take the peace and quiet. Oh, April 1, Sunny and 82 degrees.
