    @Este,

    "False hope can be a bliss, but watch out for the consequences" - Anonymous

    There's nothing more cruel than false hope. That's why I'm sick of hearing anything that is reminiscent of the false hope that I left behind with my JW past. I and many others are sick of the "snake oil" that you and others like you here are trying to sell us...

    Este, so it does not matter if an idea is true or not, what matters if if the masses find it encouraging?

    @jookbeard,

    No..I attended a Spanish assembly in the U.S. - There's now more Spanish speaking circuits or congregations in the U.S. now than there is native English circuits. It's no wonder. The Spanish speaking immigrant minority is largely uneducated, poor and desperate for hope, as opposed to the more well educated and affluent native English speaking Americans.

    And to answer the rest of you..I continue to go because I am still "in". I live at home with my mother who is a zealot, and I can't "come out of the closet" until I transfer to a distant university. Then I'll try getting through to her if it's even remotely possible at that point and if not, we'll sadly have to part ways.

    @Pam -

    If they swallowed the latest edition of Generation ® "revamped", then they will swallow just about anything. They have zero critical thinking skills. They could be told that "eating their own feces is essential for salvation" and "he who eats his own feces to end is the one that will be saved" and they would go right along and comply, and smile while doing it to boot!

    I couldn't imagine having to sit through an assembly or convention again.

    Thanks for the report. I, too, am glad to be out of the cult. These reports of the assemblies remind me of how much it is an indoctrination session!

    Doubtful; you are obviously a Spanish speaker yourself but you said the Bethel speaker spoke in a dialect you had trouble understanding, where would he have came from originally, Peru,Bolivia?

    He had only read a "Teach yourself Spanglish" book.
