How much do you believe in God's blessings?

  For a while at the end I didn't even bother writing out the talk or the outline. I would simply take the source material, mark up the points that I wanted to stand out and highlight the scriptures I wanted to read.

  Once you have repeated the same thing hundreds of times, it becomes second nature.

  As far as getting blessed by God, things finally started to improve for me when I stopped talking to him and asking him for help. Once I took full responsibility for my life and my decisions, I started to finally make some progress in life.

  The concepts of Blessings and Curses probably have ties back to the ancient world when all humans could do was watch as some lived in prosperity while others died horribly. They had to reconcile it somehow, so they explained it with Blessings and Curses.

  I'm not a historian, but it's my guess that's how it went down to some effect.

  Lol...I know exactly what you guys mean..I was blessed with "superior" intelligence, and I am by nature very studious and articulate, so putting together a talk in minutes has never been a challenge. I moved to the Spanish cong when I was 17 and I was giving #3 talks in Spanish within 2 months. Within 6 months, my Spanish fluency far exceeded that of the other bros who had moved from the English who had themselves been in the Spanish for decades. Some were jealous, while most just showered me with praise. Everyone loves my talks, and they all talk about how much "Jah has blessed me" by giving me this gift of intelligence and ability to quickly acquire new languages..I then say why is that Jah felt it best to bless me and ignore the other brothers who are also MS and Elders and COs and DOs? Why did God go out of his way to alter the natural sequences and random allocation of my genome so that I would be intelligent, while he simply ignored the millions of other braindead retarded JWs? If my intelligence wasn't a product of random chance, based on which way my DNA decided to coalesce, and God had a hand in configuring my DNA while in the womb, then surely he must also have been the one who gave me a chronic pain disease, asthma, allergies, IBS, and every other inherited ailment I've been forced to suffer my whole life..

  God altered my DNA in the womb to "bless me" with intelligence while he allowed other JW babies to be born with severe autism and down syndrome???

  Or how about the reason I give such good talks? The source of my piercing insights and applications when I give bible highlights? Surely, it's all a result of Jehovah's spirit helping me according to all the bros..Well, how do you explain the fact that I haven't prayed for help in writing a talk or giving a talk EVER!? And yet I do just fine on my own...well enough to attract a lot of attention.

  Why can't it just be that I'm a talented speaker? Why does every single good thing or positive personality trait have to be attributed to divine intervention?? Oh you see..."because the bible says the God blesses certain individuals with 'gifts in men'"..blah blah blah! Repulsive!

  i was a jw for almost 7yrs, an ardent one most of the time

  i at no time felt i was ever blessed by jehovah, or god or whatever you want to call him.

  @doubtful...great response! I can't believe how every good personality trait, circumstance, etc are ALL attributed to the blessing of God while others are left to die and/or suffer.

  @SweetBabyCheezits. That pic is great for the thread. Perfectly suits the discussion here. So wrong but so right.

  Who are we to judge what is considered a blessing? We don't know anything.
