This thread is a great thread on how to beat a dead horse! I can't believe this discussion is still going on & on & on & on - all that crying over "Barbara didn't announce it right....she (hurt) our feelings with this.....she is hurting her reputation." Waa-waa-waaa
Well, Barbara is in charge of her own damn reputation. She has a darn good one and it will stay that way. I don't see anything wrong with her using the third person in announcing it, as posters above have said. Nor, is there anything wrong with her posting it. Whether it pans out or not, it is news as it has been in the works for a long time.
I think some posters only want to hear about other ex-JWs successes after it's been a success. And, battles won along the way are not counted as a success. I think some would be happier if Steven Upthank never wrote his first letter to the authorities, as you are sure picking it all apart now. I mean, even when there was a legal journal that published a blood piece and Barbara announced that....it's still getting mentioned as being worthless by posters. Never mind that it made the news papers and media outlets around the world and won at the Alberta appeals court. No, it was all "Babs used 'big news', waa-waa-waa, it's not big news, waa-waa-waa." All of this crying and screaming and pitching a fit - get over it!
Imagine if the first attempts at a rocket (or its many parts and functions) were never reported. Followers would then have nothing to learn, from either the first predassessor's success or failure. We all learn from the people who went before us, the people who attempted to 'do something' and stick thier foot out there. So, if Steve Upthank's try was to go unreported and he failed....we wouldn't know about it and how to not repeat the same mistakes. Is it that the posters here only want to hear of great successes, after there has been a great success. Life is about learning from others who went before. If we don't know history, we are bound to repeat it. Who knows, Steve Upthank just might win. There is a law, the JWs violated the law....the shoe seems to fit.
Personally, I remember an old saying, "No one beats a dead dog." In other words, you wouldn't waste your time if Barbara was a worthless dead dog. But, you are going to town trying to bring her down. This reminds me of Othello. People love to see (or make) a hero fall. The more you beat her down, the more I think you are jealous, pure jealous, that she knew about this before you did. Becuase she was 'in the know' and announced it, the only thing you can do is to diss the way she announced it. "Babs used third person, waa-waa-waa, she shouldn't have done that, waa-waa-waa."
All of this crying and screaming and pitching a fit - get over it!
