So wife and I are kinda in limbo lately, wanting to fade, but hard to commit to fading 100%. We have howver decided to do a little birthday thing for my son soon(cake but no candles, but did get him a present and card), and we haven't really talked to the kids about how WE feel lthat birthdays are no different from anniversaries despite what the Society prints. Any ideas on what to say to the kids or how to deal with it ourselves?

Also, we've kinda of laid the groundwork for keeping things "in the family" such as entertainment choices and they know better than to talk about "questionable" movies, tv and games.

The problem is you don't want your son repeating any "reasonings" you have on birthday's. If you have some sort of workable plan to keep him from blabbin' then just tell him the truth as you see fit.

Something I read on here somewhere.....
"Today is a celebration of the first day I saw you/met you.." I thought that was really sweet.
Hope he has a wonderful birthday and likes his pressie!

Well when Jesus was born they brought gifts to him
And then Jesus told us he died for us to LIVE
more abundently...So of course you celebrate the GIFT of children
That the LORD allowed you to receive.& You let them KNOW with
a cake candles to blow out ...Come on!!!! Do you really think God
is watching to see if YOU say HAPPY BIRTHDAY????
The world is in such a turmoil from LACK of LOVE!!! & he said"THIS IS HOW YOU WILL KNOW ME,By the LOVE you have among you."
So my friend show the LOVE!!!!! especially to the kidsThems old Mouthy's orders <to start with

When we started our fade we were always open with the children and very early on decided that they should be allowed birthdays. We talked to them and said that if we were to start celebrating what would they like to happen on their birthday. We said that we had looked into it very carefully and felt that we should celebrate important occasions people at the hall may not agree with our choice but everyone had the right to make their own choices in life.

As long as there are no candles I think you're in the clear.
