nytel, yes, I did shake the hand of a person with AIDS
    and hug them too.

I used that example because of fear - the Society separates
people in the baptism line with AIDS - they get dunked last
because of some fear of contamination.

As for the rest of your babble, if Jesus could be here
reading that pathetic, whipped, craven Watchtower,
    he would weep.

    Frenchy,

When is the last time you heard a C.O. give an example in one of his talks about a kindly sister or brother missing a meeting to help someone in need? When is the last time you heard a C.O. mention someone missing Saturday morning field service to go cut some elderly sister's lawn because she could not do it? When, if ever, is it stated from the platform that acts of kindness are preferred over meetings and field service? What happened to: "Go, then, and learn what this means, 'I want mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came to call, not righteous people, but sinners." (Matt 9:13 NWT)???
The priest and Levite may not have helped the injured man because they may have touched his running sores. That would have made them ceremonially unclean and therefore unable to perform their religious duties. "Sacrifice" was more important than mercy.

It was this "lack of love" that eventually made me realize this wasn't God's organization. There was another brother DFed around the same time as me. He had an affair with a lady he knew and she became pregnant with twins. His wife who although a sweet and kind woman, was not very physically attractive because of her obesity. I just remember feeling such empathy for this woman because her whole life had just been turned upside down and she had lost so much trust in her high school sweetheart. The husband was truly remorseful for what he did and begged for his wife's forgiveness...she took him back and they started marriage counseling, even though the elders warned against it. To this day, I will always remember my JW father's words:

"Why would R*** go back to a fatass like C*****? I would think just laying in bed next to such grossness would make him stay with the lady he had an affair with."

WTH??? *shaking head* Makes me hurt for C***** and makes me embarrassed that my father is my father.

Thanks Metatron. It's clear who the modern-day pharisees are. Why JWs are blind to it beats the imagination.
