A team knowing that a player on the opposing team is using an illegal stick and not bringing it up till you need the call isn't a new issue.

I quit: True. If I recall the Kings' coach that year was Barry Melrose, no? I think he took some blame for that Marty incident...a coach is usually aware of which players he has use a stick that could be illegal.

My pick is San Jose VS Washington. I hope I am wrong.

momma: Certainly a possible final matchup. So who you pickin' if those two meet up?

GOrwell: Agree with you on the Hawks/Canucks. The other things in Hawks favor are their experience and one Jonathan Toews.

True.. I mean they still have at least 3 pretty awesome players, but they are not the complete package they were last year.. are they enough to bounce the Presidents Trophy winners? I think not, but funny things happen in the playoffs..

Yep, anything can happen. Seen that last year...Habs take out Caps, Philly comes back from down 3-0...

Game on. Playoffs started a few mins ago...puck drop in Pittsburgh.

Since I live in Vancouver, I have go with the Canucks this year, they have I believe a good enough team to make it to the final.

As long as they don't incur any injuries along the way.

I swear Luongo has a curse on him.. he has to be the biggest choke artist when he's needed most.. hopefully that's just because he usually plays close to or way over 70 games. This year they had an actual reliable backup, so he played 60, and should be plenty rested.

You know, as much as some people absolutely hate Detroit, the amount of mental calm and toughness they demonstrate year after year (this is the 20th straight Detroit playoff appearance) is simply amazing.. I mean they got owned in the first period of tonight's game, and then calmly came back and rolled over Phoenix. They've showed it a few times in the regular season - down 4 goals against Pittsburg, storm back and steal a point.. NO game is ever out of reach of this team..

Luongo is obviously a big and very talented goalie. It is his mental game that I question. He seems to get rattled, lose confidence, doubt himself. A death potion in sports. We'll see if he can pull it together this year. We'll start to find out in just a few minutes...

GOrwell...I don't know how Detroit stays so consistently good. It only points to their great ownership, management, scouting system.

Wow, the first 13 minutes of Van and Chi has had more excitement than Rangers and Washington's entire game..

Well, the Oilers are out. There's always next year, and they have first draft pick.

I suspect the Oilers will be a serious Cup contender in about 3 years - a'la Pittsburgh. Granted, last and this years' draft pool is nowhere near as deep as when Malkin/Crosby was drafted, but their team is seriously looking pretty dangerous!
