I have $10 Sears Gift Card for tools, but I am not sure which tool that I would be interested to purchase. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I would suggest a hammer, and duct tape.

If it cant be fixed with a mighty smack

the duct tape will hold it together.

$10 doesn't buy much, but you should be able to purchase what Aussie says above, in my DIY book, that is what is known as a"complete tool kit".

If you scrape some more cash together, you could purchase something that is a useful addition to the aforesaid complete kit, and that is a hot-air gun, if the hammer doesn't work and the duct tape is inappropriate, judiscious use of the hot air gun usually gets some sort of result.

Yeah a good rule of thumb is "don't buy cheap tools, they only make the job harder or you wind up damaging something that you have to replace which could have been avoided....if you weren't a cheapo when it comes to tools."

I hate cheap tools if you can't tell. Been there done that to many times. The right tools for the job make it 100%, unequivocally, without-a-doubt an easier DIY project.

Buy duct tape and zip ties, they can fix anything!

Putting it toward any socket set would be a good investment.

I'll be a tool and answer; if you don't have one, a lithium ion impact driver makes life SO much easier. (the impact driver is much better for most things than a simple drill/screw gun).
