I'm glad this subject was brought up and clarified. A sister from my hall came to my house a couple of weeks ago, she had picked up my magazines from the hall and brought them to me. I really didn't want them but was cordial to her and took them. She then explained to me that the material has been simplified by the society due to the fact that people in the world are uneducated and need the bible truths to be dumbed down for them to grasp. Wow crazy huh?

On the Jdub Talk forum, everyone seems happy with the new version and English is not their second language. Come on, people, the JWs are really reading the simpli...pardon...the dumbed down version! They use it! Just wait until the end of the year. As wasblind said, even the educated dubs will like it because it is easier to study before meetings. Just throw a few glimpses...taa-daaaa, ready for the sunday WT study.

I take Mad Sweeney's point that the simplified vaersion cannot be for ESL as there is already a version in their first language.

So, is it for born-in children? Or slower adults?

Odd, then, that the organization that is so proud of having the same service for all, even pre-schoolers, now wants to cater at two levels.

The only way it makes any sense is if they plan to make the new version the new standard. But, then, do they need to make sense?

I like NeckBeard's idea. Started a new thread here for the "picture edition" of the watchtower:

The majesty of the English language is being forgotten. Shakespeare's basic stories can be convey in four or five sentences. Dante translated can be conveyed in five or six. Why on earth don't people dumb up instead of dumb down? I learned English as a native speaker by agony. It was so important for me to go beyond my reading comprehension. I'd be loveable and peace would come to my JW family rather than the terror we lived.

Basically, it is an excuse to vent about WTBTS.

Ask an Irish person how wonderful English is. All around the globe people are trying to establish lapsed languages. English smacks of cultural imperialism. Still, if I lived in Rome, I'd want to be a Roman citizen.

I haven't kept up with Watchtower bullshit, but is the Watchtower itself dumbed down, or is their the regular Watchtower which is already dumbed down to fourth-grade reading level and then another really dumbed down Watchtower which is dumbed to to basically, fingerpainting?

I don't know. Are there two stupid versions? One, just a stupid version and two, a really, really stupid version?

Sorry. I was unfair in my charactarization of the second version. I should have called it a version for people who are not qualified to read the first, stupid version, so they made a second really stupid version.

There. I think I clarified it.

Question: how can the WTS make really stupid lies and prophetic and speculative bullshit any more stupid than it is already?

Question #2: The WTS has said repeatedly that their interpretation of the Bible is very, very spiritually DEEP. This means the Bible is so complicated that it cannot be explained by even the best and most educated writer. The best and most educated writer in the history of the WT Corporation was Fredrick William Franz and I heard many of his talks and read virtually ALL of his books, some of them three times. It was the most confusing pile of shit I've ever read and I have a genius IQ.

How can one dumb down or simplfy THAT bullshit that cannot even be understood in its original form?

I'm just curious to hear an explanation for that from Watchtower apologists. What is even more important, is that Jesus made it plain that His message was simple and it was simple. The Watchtower Corporation has made it plain that their message cannot even be comprehended by a person with a genius IQ.

That being said, the lesser ones are doomed by the very doctrine of the Watchtower Printing Corporation, because they can't even begin to understand all of the doctrines that their religious masters keep throwing at them and then keep changing before they can even figure out the doctrines that were just changed.

It is impossible to understand an impossible-to-understand doctrine, but that is made worse when that doctrine which one cannot understand in the first place is then constantly modified into another doctrine which is equally impossible to understand.

Given all of this, the Watchtower Printing and Marketing Corporation has only one message: "Trust us. We know what is best for you."

The question for that is: "Who stays prosperious and who gets fucked from among those who believe that promise?"

I think we should all call it like it is. No offense to anyone. I think we should use the word "a ra-tard" from "the hangover". The ratarded edition just sounds cool. sorry if i offended anyone...

"Some young ones whose main language is English sometimes find The Watchtower hard to understand."

Straight from the horse's mouth... It's partially a child recruitment tactic. They'll continue to focus on indoctrinating the born-ins, who may soon be their primary (if only) source of growth.
