we aren't a [fill-in-the-blank] organization, our job is to preach..."

Direct quote from a talk by the CO (godrulz: that's Circuit Overseer) in my old congo:

    "We aren't a social organization, we're a preaching organization."

The Great Commission is the primary task of the Church. All believers and churches should be about worship, instruction, fellowship/relationships, evangelism, discipleship, service, etc. JWs have not cornered the market on spreading a message, just ruined door-to-door as an effective option.

Thank you, metatron. Blondie often suggests emerging problems at the hall by what is addressed in the magazines. Case in point, regular articles on how the elders behave (or are supposed to behave), avoid disputes, and trust the elders.

Translation: Elders don't always behave, disputes and ponzi schemes continue to plague the congregations, and elders are not always trustworthy.

Scary! I had an elder quote that to me, word for word, less than 2 months ago when I had the temerity to suggest the congregation would benefit from more social gatherings.

That elder was originally from NY - Long Island I believe. He may well have had that same CO not long before moving here.
