How can JW's not believe in the soul and yet believe in the spirit?

    Excellent post Terry!

I have been trying to wrap my head around the jw thinking on this subject for years! I agree with you and follow you until this-

"Jesus WAS a spirit (he use to be the archangel Michael until the Watchtower gave up on it) TRANSFERRED to the ovum of human MARY.

So, Jesus BECAME the human that ADAM had been. Except for one important matter: ADAM (according to the Watchtower) HAD NO SPIRIT or soul.

Isn't this a bit of a problem for their consistency of belief?

Adam=body with no spirit or soul.

    Jesus (the 2nd Adam) body+spirit
    .
" ------ The wt gave up on Jesus being Michael? did they? I thought they still say Jesus was Michael pre-earthly visit. Though they could not explain then what happened to the being that was Michael, did he die? commit suicide, meld into what would become Jesus? he no longer exists? What about when Jesus went back to heaven? where is Michael now? is Jesus now a hybrid of son of god and angel? What about humans judging angels? is Michael left out or what? He can hardly come back unless Jesus were to split in two or what? is there no diference between 'son of God' and an angel?

Jesus became Adam? what the hell? do they mean as a so called 'perfect' human or what? Jesus is really Michael in spirit/soul but also becomes Adam?

well crap, I knew I had become rusty on jw theology but now I am thoroughly confused again.

You said, The resurrection of Jesus requires the Watchtower to become creative in order to appear consistent.

The human body in the tomb vanishes and Jesus (now resurrected) is said to be walking and talking.

For Christendom, Jesus actual human body is walking and talking. He even has the crucifixion scars to prove it!

But, for the Watchtower this can't be allowed! Why? It messes up their contrarian explanation!!
"-- As I said I am rusty on all things jw, however, if memory serves don't they solve this problem by saying Jesus only made it appear He was a real person complete with holes etc... basically Jesus needed to lie (used trickery or magical/supernatural powers) to His followers so they would believe? Imagine the jw god who needs to use lies to gain followers, what a small god the jw's have.

Jw's are very big on demons, evil spirits and lets not forget Satan himself always out to get you as well, why then don't they believe there are good angels or spirits who are helpful? also, all the demons and such talked about by the wt seem to be male are there any female evil demons? They can't be sexless as already proved by Terry when they came and had sex and impregnated human women.

I don't think jw's think through the whole 'god remembers' thing. Recreating you from his memory banks is not the same thing as you, yourself. It is a clone, though it may look the same and even have the same memories it is not the you who lived and sinned and died. The new you would need no further judgement on your previous life as it is not the new you who did any wrong, yet. Don't they believe that all will be judged? all the dead will come out of their graves? the clone deserves no condemnation as it wasn't even around when the old previous you sinned. What if God decided to make 3 or 4 of you from his memory banks? which one would be you? Which one would deserve punishment or reward (if any)?

I believe there was a wt (or other) that said Jesus was dead and gone, so the Jesus that is in heaven and supposedly picked the jw's in 1914/1919 is not actually the Savior Jesus who died upon the cross as He is dead and gone. So this recreated Jesus/Michael character actually did nothing to save mankind from their sins and we are still in our sins and have no new covenant. Because that Jesus no longer exists we (mankind) have no mediator between man and God. That about sum it up?

If jw's believe that God wrote things upon our hearts why don't they believe that we continue on somewhere in death as almost all cultures have a belief that something does survive and move on or is at least conscious of their being/ and death. Did God write that upon mankinds heart?

A more simple explanation of WT's dogma:

    A Person named Justhuman dies

God remembers ALL the information regarding that person, how he looked, his personality, temper, character

God is acting like a Super Computer and stores in His hardrive all the information of Justhuman

God resurrects - actually makes a new body for Justhuman that has all the physical characteristics of that person and inserts in the newly created brain all the information that was stored in His hardrive(like copy-paste)and there we have the resurrected person known as Justhuman

In the above, substitute the word "soul" for information. BINGO!

A Baptist dies and his soul goes back to Jehovah.

A Jehovah's Witness ANOINTED dies and what happens? How does what happens to the anointed differ in any way from that of your garden variety Baptist?

'A Jehovah's Witness ANOINTED dies and what happens? How does what happens to the anointed differ in any way from that of your garden variety Baptist?'

The baptists body dies, freeing the soul. It flies off to meet jesus or god. The jw anointed dies, ceases to exist for a fraction of a second. Fortunately, wtgod has had his 4d videocorder going, and has all of the anointed's info. H whips up a spirit body and downloads the anointed's info into it.

St. Peter says, show me some soul . . . . . . Priest says I don't like that kinda musak, the little boys won't stand still. Rabbi says, we Jews can't condone that kinda shakin and jumpin. Elder says, got none.

Psalms 11:5 in new world translation and others speaks of Jehovah having soul. Does this mean Jehovah is mortal. The witnesses claim the soul is mortal. If Jehovah has soul does it mean that he is mortal?
