She is just as clueless as we were at one time.

E.g., I knew nothing about 1874 until I found out about it on the internet.

She wasn't lying; she just didn't know the doctrine. A good chunk of them aren't aware of their own teachings. My mom was actually surprised that I knew when the Memorial was this year. As it turns out, it doesn't take holy spirit to know what's going on after all; it just takes good old reading comprehension!

I had a converstion with a JW like that in the fall of 2006 (tract campaign)- I nailed her lies down to the sidewalk and then she had to leave, as she was going to the car group-( I followed her to the sidewalk) I continued to talk to her, she walked faster, I talked faster, then the door opened- "What are you going to do when you look up---( silentlambs website)-like I told you about and you see I am right- silence- "I'll tell you what you will do, you'll take it up the keester and do nothing, say nothing, just like always- "she replied softly, "you're right" and then got in the car.

JWs are JWs because they A- the don't want to die a physical death, and B- they want to live forever on a paradise earth as perfect humans. They will continue to chow down on whatever hogwash the GB puts into their slop trough, calling it meat in due season, for as long as it continues to pander to their hopes for A&B.

The last time 1918 and 1919 were discussed in any detail was in the Isaiah Prophecy books from 2000 and 2001. Actually it is a two-parter.

*** ip-2 chap. 27 p. 397 par. 14 Jehovah Blesses Pure Worship ***These words in Isaiah harmonize with two other prophetic utterances, the one recorded at Ezekiel 43:4, 6-9 and the other at Malachi 3:1-5. Both Ezekiel and Malachi foretell a time when Jehovah God comes to his temple. Malachi’s prophecy shows that Jehovah comes to inspect his house of pure worship and to act as a Refiner, rejecting those who misrepresent him. Ezekiel’s vision depicts Jehovah as entering the temple and demanding that all traces of immorality and idolatry be removed. In the modern-day fulfillment of these prophecies, there was an important spiritual development in 1918 in connection with Jehovah’s worship. Jehovah and Jesus evidently made an inspection of all of those claiming to represent pure worship. That inspection led to the final casting off of corrupt Christendom. For Christ’s anointed followers, the inspection meant a brief period of refinement followed by a swift spiritual restoration in 1919.—1 Peter 4:17.

Whoa, OP, that 'oh well' makes me feel weird inside. So that's it? Oh well? Wow.

moshe- You have guts sir, to follow her like that. And a sad tale too. Some people, no matter, want to blindly believe in whatever they want. Sad stuff.

haha...that is quite funny! However, not surprising at all.

It is quite amazing how ignorant most JWs are regarding their own teachings. Even most elders were quite "stupid" when it came to JW doctrine, and especially the history of JW teachings. Most are concerned with "political" type "elder" discussions regarding congregational organization, responsibilities and assignments etc.

It always sickened me to see how many of these men were driven by such primitive motives.

Of course there are always exceptions. Several JWs were motivated by love and concern for their fellow man, however these were certainly in the minority.

Are you going to the talk? Sounds fascinating!

Isn't Theocratic Reasoning wonderful (sarcasm)? It allows JWs to lie to worldly people without believing that they are lying and allows them to continue their cognitive dissonance. I guess that the WTBTS does not empathize reading John 8:31-41.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    John 8:31-41 (NIV)

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants [b] and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you do what you have heard from your father. [c] ”

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.

“If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would [d] do the things Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the things your own father does.”

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

JW: 1919? We don't teach anything about 1919. I think you're confused with the year World War One ended.

LMAO! Not only does she not know her own religions' history, she doesn't even know regular history. WWI ended in 1918---a year before they teach that Jesus chose them as the F&DSC in 1919.

JWs do not know enough about their own religion sad to say.

I find they don't know the Bible either or it's history. Which is also very sad to say.
