They were in town to protest a soldier's funeral...and this allegedly happened. What say you?

A couple of days before, one of them ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his ass waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

Ranking deserves a hand in how they handled this situation.

Indeed, the citizens of Rankin County deserve our praise.

    Go, Rankin County Mississippi.

Kind of reminds me of the clowns (actual) that disrupted a KKK rally in Knoxville, TN.

This is slippery ground. It is harrassment and illegal to falsely detain somone. What if it were the other way around, someone protesting in front of the Westboro Church and the County did that to them, don't think for a minute there wouldn't be legal action. Free speech is just a burden we must bear. Hate to say it but anytime the law screws with people and gets away with it there is an opening for abuse. I think it already was abuse of authority. I like it better when the locals organize and have an equally legal demonstration of support for the funeral folks and position themselves in front of the WestB nutters. An ordinance that would keep protesters a decent distance from the venue wouldn't hurt. That is legal.

I'm just happy to read that one of those evil bastards got their ass kicked. Just desserts.

If more towns worked together like this, perhaps Westboro protests would eventually be shut down. I'm still surprised none of them have been killed yet...but I'm sure they will one day piss off the wrong person and that'll be that.

Standing ovation to everyone involved in Rankin County.

It will be shut down by themselves (lack of procreation for new membership) - it is not like they are making any new converts.

Even Code Pink seems to not want to have anything to do with them.

It will work similar to how computer virus makers and anti-virus software work. The virus makers just have to get more creative which makes the anti-virus software creators have to at least match that creativity. Ultimately the anti-virus software people win they just don't win all the battles.

I do not think it should be legal to have protestors near a funeral party. Just as we give the funeral cars extra room and attention on the roadway, there should be a wide berth around the funeral and burial. That means no protests, from either side. I would support a Constitutional Amendment for that purpose.

p.s. Thank God for rednecks with pick-up trucks...and a high tree stand. Perhaps the Baptist Church members went deer hunting?
