    Part 5

They secretly film at a serice of Pastor Grant who previously did time for fraud. He asks the audience to fill in contact cards and then pretends to have gifts of knowledge about people in the audience and claims to heal everything including cancer. Of course he finishes with taking as much money as possible from the audience.

Nathan is now practising his healing on the streets. He is successful with every person he approaches, all of them claim he has taken away their pain. They later inform all of them that Nathan is not a healer.

    Time for the big show...

"I remember watching him "preaching the gospel" to a group of around 20 or so non-christians and by the end of it many of them were "giving their life to Jesus". Derren is an atheist; he then counseled the people involved and explained them how he had manipulated them."

Do you feel you were "manipulated", after you left the JWs?

I think manipulation is a big problem, in the church. I have not seen this, but if you could tell me whereor how to get that video, I'd like to see it. Phony is phony.

    Part 6

Looks like not many showed up but camera angles make it difficult to be sure.

Pastor Shaun does the warm up. Nathan's two hour show goes well, he is really convincing and is "slaying people in the spirit". Now at the point he ough to be asking them for donations he is giving a sermon about the deception of faith healing for money.

Finally they go back to see WV Grant and this time he selects Derren for healing - praise god for slip-on shoes he lengthens his left leg by 4 inches!

Overall impression - a bit of an anti-climax.

Every time somebody raises their hands in church and says "amen" they are under the influence of group-think. The level of manipulation in evangelical preaching varies from mild to extreme but it all manipulative.

I enjoyed it Cofty. Especially the face of Pastor Shaun as JC explained they were not healed, it was simply adrenaline. Some of the hidden camera stuff was good too....where the "pastor" knew peoples names and addresses because God told him, when all the time his wife was feeding him the info through a mike in his ear.......

Ive enjoyed all Derrens programes...enigma was especially good.
