    I love perio pieces.

Loved the two Spartacus series and love this one too.

The acting is good, the action is good, the storylines, although predictable at times like most things when you've seen enough movies, are solid and fun to watch.

And you can never complain about good old gratuitous nudity and sex, LOL !

Some viewers are unfamiliar with the novels, and therefore not prepared to indulge the story, as it unfolds.

Spoiler Alert, of course. This discusses last night's episode.

By the way, via email, a friend of mine who has read the books, had this to say about the television series.

"As it is, I find the show slightly boring, focusing on all the wrong things, and the production quality is really lacking in comparison to like... Rome."

I saw Rome and Spartacus ( both series) and I find GOT comparable, though less "sexy".

I don't know where they are going with the whole thing since I didn't read the books and admit that last night was quite the shocker, but I like that.

Rome was much better. It was extraordinarly better. I feel it is impossible to understand Thrones without reading the books. Yet there is nothing compelling enough to warrant reading a book. I am usually a sucker for historical fiction. Given a setting in the remote past. I will stick with mediocre books I would nromally discard. So much of historical fiction is poorly written. I adore the ones that are well-written and can stand up to a good regular novel.

I saw it. But my mom is reading the books, and I made her tell me what happens to the characters I love. So I know what's going to happen, and at least I was prepared!

I think I'll read the first book after the season finale and just keep doing it that way, season after season (this show will hopefully be around for a LONG time). I kinda like watching it and not knowing what's going to happen next and so far everyone seems to agree that the series is following the book very closely.
