Is Microwave bad for your health?

  I googled it up and most people say Yes. What is your opinion?

  There is an urban lagend about a guy sunning himself along with beers in front of a large microwave dish... proved harmful to him so it goes.

  As for whether it poisons our food i dont know... the WT hasn't told me.

  I lived with a lady a while ago who was not able to use one. She would suffer from cardiac dysrhythmia when she used it.

  I've never done any research on this, but a microwave should be designed as a faraday cage. Put your cell phone inside one and close the door. It should lose signal. By the same principle, electro-magnetic radiation from the elements inside won't travel outside the shielding of a closed microwave.

  Microwave ovens do not put anything into the food. All they do is to cook the food from the inside out by passing radio waves through the food.

  There is actually more danger from grilled and barbequed meat and vegetables because the charred portions can actually become carcianogenic. Obviously a little char isn't going to kill you, but open barbeques have fumes and low levels of chemical and ash that are trapped in the cooked food. A microwave simply heats the water molecules inside the food (essentially boiling the water and juices in the food).

  The real danger of microwaves was addressed many years ago. Microwaves bounced off the inner walls of the oven. If the door wasn't tightly sealed then some radiation could escape and affect some medical devices like pacemakers and hearing aids.

  I love my microwave.

  I know a student who was part of a group that looked into a health effect of eating microwaved food. Years later, none of them own microwaves.

  This subject came up years ago on another forum and one of the posters told about his mother getting health problems that went on for a couple of years. Doctors couldn't diagnose anything or offer any help. He worked out that her problems had started about the time she bought a microwave. They put it away and her problem disappeared. She has had relapses, but only after eating out.

  I haven't owned one for years. Root vegetables taste like crap if they have been cooked or even reheated in them and my wife insisted on trying to get away with it. It had to go.

  Yes, Blondie. My chiropractor told me that I should keep my Radio Biola machine in top shape. They're not made anymore. That's too bad - cause you don't have to have smallpox or polio vaccinations if you use one regularly. I stopped using mine though, cause my WiFi stops working every time I turn it on.
