The Watchtower's Society's admonishment about the internet is simply advice. It is not a sin to communicate on anonymous internet forums.

It's not a sin to celebrate birthdays either.

    ad·mon·ish (d-mnsh)

tr.v. ad·mon·ished, ad·mon·ish·ing, ad·mon·ish·es 1. To reprove gently but earnestly. 2. To counsel (another) against something to be avoided; caution. (In other words: to warn) 3. To remind of something forgotten or disregarded, as an obligation or a responsibility. Synonyms: admonish, reprove, rebuke, reprimand, reproach
These verbs mean to correct or caution critically. Admonish implies the giving of advice or a warning in order to rectify or avoid something: "A gallows erected on an eminence admonished the offenders of the fate that awaited them" (William Hickling Prescott).
Reprove usually suggests gentle criticism and constructive intent: With a quick look, the teacher reproved the child for whispering in class.
Rebuke and reprimand both refer to sharp, often angry criticism: "Some of the most heated criticism . . . has come from the Justice Department, which rarely rebukes other agencies in public" (Howard Kurtz). "A committee at [the university] asked its president to reprimand a scientist who tested gene-altered bacteria on trees" (New York Times).
Reproach usually refers to regretful or unhappy criticism arising from a sense of disappointment: "Every other author may aspire to praise; the lexicographer can only hope to escape reproach" (Samuel Johnson). http://www.thefreedictionary.com/admonished Yep Outlaw got it right...as usual.

    *** w06 1/15 p. 23 par. 13 Do Not Allow Place for the Devil ***

Because of listening to the Devil and not rejecting his lies, the first human pair apostatized. So, then, should we listen to apostates, read their literature, or examine their Web sites on the Internet? If we love God and the truth, we will not do so. We should not allow apostates into our homes or even greet them, for such actions would make us 'sharers in their wicked works.'

By implication StandFirm's reading, participation and association with apostates on their websites shows he lacks love for God and the truth - according to the WT.

    Maze-

    Rachel-Alice is that you?

    _______________

Now lets be serious about this subject.....

The warnings about the internet are numerous and at times direct.....

To ignore them is to either be in denial (usually self-justified) or to just be an 'independent thinker' and willfully dismissive

As many know I am an active JW...... I have gotten a few 'whatcha doin' here' comments and I have no problem being honest in saying I am being 'willfully dismissive'......no excuses.

If an active JW is reading this comment......be honest with yourself, you wouldn't be here if you were truly submissive (which is fine, I personally like the company of having intelligent non ranting, question dodging, stick to the topic active JWs on this site!)

If you find yourself making excuses and trying to keep the 'loyal, humble, obedient' title.....then you are in self-justified denial (and that is fine too as long as you don't end up acting like a hot mess bringing reproach......... be logical, if confronted with 'human imperfection' of the WTS suck it up and move on without trying to cast misdirection or acting like you can't handle the truth......because after more than a century of existance there are going to be some goofs and the WTS has long embraced revision in the form of 'new light' and just changing things after decades....

Becoming more versed in our history will only help a JW to be a better JW in their own lives in discerning where, how and when to make application of counsel........

All in all......is what it is....dont play ball if you cant gracefully handle getting beaned a time or two....cuz it happens to all of us
