Snowboarder . . . there will be many here who will be reading your posts and not commenting because, like me, they cannot add any more advice to that offered already. But be assured . . . we are reading them and are very interested in seeing you have the future you deserve and the opportunity of fulfilling your dreams.

Your description portrays a situation at home which is extremely controlling . . . and hard to endure. If at all possible you need to get out from under that. Please . . . keep close watch on your mental state and seek help if you need to . . . that would not be an "unusual" thing to do . . . rather, it would be wise.

    We're all here for you.

That's so cool that someone from the Aussie Winter Olympic team contacted you! We don't have much snow here in Australia so it's not an easy sport to train for.

Don't give up on your dream. While you have to respect your parents' wishes while you live under their roof, prepare for a time when you can move out and live your own life. It won't be that far away when this happens, so make plans NOW!

Currently there is lot's of tension building up in the house, and it's becoming mentally hard for me to endure. I just hate my life and somedays i would rather be dead then alive.

I don't know if it would help if you wrote something to this effect explaining how you feel to your parents. What you are saying is very scary.Above all, I wouldn't want my child to feel this way.

Please let them know this information, then take a deep breath. Ask to speak to them in a calm manner. You don't have to tell them that you don't want to be a JW, just let them know that you have made it a goal to be an olympic snowboarder and ask them to stand behind you.

How about Prince? He became a witness and is still performing, and other JWs do the same type thing.

Hope this helps. Let us know how things progress.

i told my parents and they went crazy! My dad was Olympic snowboard ya right, #@#$# and they were why can't you be something in your life like a elder or CO, in short it was a bad conversation and my parents would rather i not, they say it's selfish and if i care about them. i lost my faith in the JW after a few events what happened and what makes me upset is i can't have worldly friends they would treat me better then the JW, they should be lucky i don't play hockey with them...on second thought ignore the hockey comment. hey if they gave up on becoming pro hockey players because they wanted to pioneer it's not my fault i want to be what i am! A SNOWBOARDER!

Pursue your dream, otherwise you will live a life of regret.

I don't no your age or finanical situation, but I recommend you don't rock the boat too much. Your parents will forgive you a lot easier if they believe you are "distracted" with being a snowboarder, rather than if they start to think you are an apostate. At least with snowboarding they will have hope you will get over it as you get older and become more active as a JW. Hopefully you can get a scholarship at the Australia Institute of Sport so you can move out of home.
