A doctor friend told my husband that if you have meats that you are unsure about then cook it till the temperature of the food reaches 85 deg C (185F) and anything harmful will be destroyed.

I love bacteria poop... seriously though, not to sound indifferent, but have we become a nation of anti-bacterial pussies? Funny what guidlines we have in this country and what 3rd worlders view being "safe"...

Just don't give it to your loved ones.
They need to be well enough to drive you to the hospital.
Yes, food needs to be rapidly cooled (packed in ice) in less than 20 minutes for it to be safely stored in <40 F.
I don't think you've been poisoned hard enough.
Once is all it took for me to be vigilant with food safety, and it wasn't even my cooking that did it.
I guess you know that none of us will ever eat your cooking, right?
OUTLAW, you beat me to it while I was writing this!
Isn't poultry to be kept heated at 165 F and hamburger 155 F, or is that just to bring it to that and then let it drop to 145?
Good to see some common sense here.

So, what did peoples 100-10,000 years ago do in dry, hot, arid regions for food storage and preservation? No power or refriges back then...

Bacteria is not to be messed with.
Many stomach "flu"s are actually food poisoning.
24 hour flu? Bacterial poisoning.
Viruses take longer to get rid of.

Cook it then eat it.
May I be so rude as to say DUH?
Salted it, too.
