Darn it, wish I knew what Prop and TD wanted to say last page.

Goria Steinem was puzzling to many men because she was beautiful and did not shout. She worked with Kenneth Galbraith, the economist, at Harvard.

She was even more striking in person. What a figure! She was not a burn bra dyke type. Her boyfriend was present in the background.

Men were obssessed wtih sexual fantasies about her. I can't repeat what some men wrote about what they would do to her. It was total sexual demonination. I was very active in NOW. There were major battles between lesbian socilaist who decided to take over the main stream middle class organization. My suburban NOW would have just complied with the socialists. NY women and I assume other major cities with many female professionals fought hard for NOW's very life.

I worked on a few U.S. Supreme Court cases for NOW. NOW has faded from prominence. I'd attend today in a second if it were the same. MS. is still published but it no longer rivets my attention.

Disability has stigmatized me. It is one thing to read about stigma in a book and another to have it determine most of your life. Disabled people don't fight back the way blacks and women did. For me, the worst part is not the stigma from outside sources but the internalized stigma from myself. Oh, if only we had a glossy mag like Ms. I don't know how they raised the money for MS. Does anyone else know?

Gloria Steinem could still TV hop. I wonder why she stopped. Oh, I saw her within the past few years. She has aged well. It is sick when discussing feminism to discuss all the feminine attributes as a leader. Many of the leaders look like hags.

As Sylvia would say, Tee hee...

Seriously though. I've got children, but none of them were boys. Not counting the dog, I've always been the only male in the house; hopelessly outnumbered and outclassed. Over the years, I tried to take care of "My girls" when they were feeling miserable, but empathy is not exactly the same thing as understanding.

Abdominal cramps? Yes I know what those are. Loss of blood? I'm a regular blood donor and no stranger to the wooziness that goes with suddenly parting with a quart of your blood. Irritability? Yes I know what that is. Testosterone and irritabililty go hand in hand. Discomfort? Yes I know what that is too even though it's not exactly the same kind of discomfort. Those physical symptoms don't seem to adequately describe the situation. --at least not enough for a man to understand. Something is going on in a woman's body during menstruation and only another woman seems to truly "get it." I feel for you ladies.

Like I said, no matter how hard we try, I don't think men and woman ever truly understand each other. A man is never going to know what it's like to be a woman, but by the same token, a woman is never going to know what it's like to be a man.

    Well said.

I will never know how it feels to be a man but I won't discount what men go through in their lives and it should be likewise from the other sex. I get mild teasing from my man about it. He claims that he knows by smell (ugh) when that time of the month comes around for me. If it's really bad he makes sure I have the time to recover which is very much appreciated.

Being male is not a bed of roses. We are more likely to die at any period in life.

Mrs Jones, I feel for whatcha' goin' thru. I've watched my wife transform over the years from going thru menstruation to menopause. She's crossed over into different territory. Been about 10 years since I've been asked to pick up her femenine products from the supermarket. The transfer of power. It's definitely different dealing with her from this side of the street. I think I'll be investigating that new product on the market that they only advertise on late night TV. ZESTRA? Might put the love jones back in her bones. God, sometimes I hate getting old.

I'm looking forward to menopause and afterwards just to not have to deal with that time of the month anymore. My childbearing years are long behind me and I'm tired of the pain and the mess. When I get to the other side I just might look up Zestra.

BAND on the RUN- My wife kind of looks like Gloria Steinem in her younger years . And yes, she is beautiful.

MRS. JONES - If I menstruated - I'd bleed all over all the chauvanistic, patriarchal abusive guys on the planet . I champion women's rights. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Don't you think that this whole menstruation business was a major design flaw anyway ? Seems like there could have been a better way to go about all that.

And another thing that never made sense is why our mouths are located way up on our faces. If we'd have been made with our mouths, down on our stomachs, we could just sit up to the table and shove the all the food in. Nobody would choke to death or drip food on themselves. Or when we bursh our teeth all we'd have to do is stand up to the sink and brush away...no muss no fuss.

Somebody just wasn't thinkin when they designed us. LOL !

(then again....you'd have to unbutton your shirt to eat and kissing would be kinda strange....maybe I better rethink this whole thing.....never mind )
