I totally agree, ANY GOD that allows children to suffer and die is NO God at all, I doubt such a God exists.

And since there is NO God like that, it is UP TO US to make the world a better palce, to help so that NO children suffer and die, at all.

So, what are YOU doing about it?

    dear Star tiger...

if you don't take into account the eternal benefit of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross but just look at the "scene"...

imagine what God thought about humans who just stood around and allowed (encouraged in some cases) His innocent only begotten Son to be treated the way He was...

we have a share in caring for others less fortunate...or we have a share in ignoring others less fortunate. God has provided for those less fortunate on earth in an eternal way...He's not taking that provision away. (though there is a definate end to the "things" pertaining to Christ on earth.)

Star tiger...(not accusing) have you done anything to show God that you could be His child or do you show Him you are of the world? looking back to the cross we can see that Jesus asked His Father to "forgive them"..."they know not what they do".

...do you know what you do?

Michelle: I too used to make excuses for God's behaviour. I eventually realized that he's big enough not to need us making excuses for him, and I started asking simple questions:

What always gets me is how genocide is okay for god becauses he's god but for humans its an atrocity.

I was afflicted with facial neuralgia for about thirty years. The suicide rate is greater than 95%. I was basically in a fetal position. When I did well I believed Jesus was behind me so I wondered where he was now. I was placed in hospice units for pain control. Words are inadequate to describe the absolute terror I faced daily. I volunteered at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in NY to have some structure and not kill myself.

A famous Christian author gave me many hours of her time. She reminded me that groovy Jesus is not biblical, that Jesus merely promises to be with us in our pain. Unlike the remote Father part of the Trinity, he knows utter agony. She was right.

I remain disturbed by a god who created the savage kingdom where animals hunt each other constantly. SIDS in infants makes one wonder. Jesus performed miracles to show the presence of God's kingdom in the first century. He only healed a very small portion of sufferers. The Holocaust and other genocide. The Church says we know Christ through is presence in our lives. I am revolted that he seems very distant from us.

It doesn't kill my belief. The kingdom seems paltry to me in many ways. I believe because I want to believe. Someday I'd like to be able to ask Jesus where he was. Carl Jung wrote The Problem of Job, asserting that man is more moral than God. The Abraham/Isaac sacrifice is used by many religions to elicit absolute shock that a moral giod could ask this and that man found it worthy to applaud.

Questions, questions. I prefer questions to absolute certainty from some dudes in Brooklyn. Dudes who have plastic flowers in their entrance.
