"Science is the best tool ever devised for understanding how the world works" -- Michael Shermer

But not Why or "ought to".

I am an strong advocate of science. However, science historically has been "underground" and it seems that last decade or so it has been emerging as socially acceptable. I would hate to see them take that honor and spoil it with consistant missles fired at creationists. Someone's gotta be the better person, you know?

If your god is omnipotent it is a piece of cake

For certain definitions of omnipotence...and there are several.

As I've said before on this thread, I believe God's omnipotence has boundaries.

True, but science does not assign meaning, that is a more subjective enterprise....and I say that as a proponent of science.

Speaking of semantics - did we get past the bit where it was argued that animals don't 'suffer'?

    That was just precious!

I do not follow you. Why would anyone want to suppress science? What is the alternative to science?

God's activites in THIS universe are based on the "laws" of THIS universe since its very beginning, "laws" established by God.

Yes. We must start, somewhere, IMHO. We focus attention on the low-hanging fruit, first, when seeking to alleviate human suffering. (Or, if you prefer, let's say we focus our attention on efforts that promote human and animal well-being. Examples: Enough food, clean water, adequate shelter.)

Including an inability to design a safer earth? What a puny god.

In the USA perhaps, its been socially acceptable over here forever. Here is the back of our £10- note

I didn't supress science society did, and now society is accepting it more so. People like Dawkins seem, to me, to be using that sociel phenomenon to try to kill God by appealing to the crowd that got made fun of for so long. I hope he knows what he's doing. God really shouldn't be the target superstition should be.
