Ali had an appointment with her dr. yesterday. He won't let her return to her job, due to the long hours for her position. (45 hours minimum) and the physical lifting that her employer would require. So she is going on permanent disability, which he assures her she will get. She is conflicted about it, but knows she can't perform her former duties.
My last update, included her battle with an infection, following surgery to reattach her pacemaker and defibrilatory leads, and to reposition her device, which had flipped, due to violent coughing from a bad case of bronchitis. What the dr. didn't tell her at the time was that the infection was MRSA. Apparently, she has beat that as well. He didn't want to tell her at the time, since that could have thrown her into a panic, and she has severe heart failure to begin with... She is very grateful that she didn't know. I love her cardiologist.
Her ejection franction is up to 37...from 8 at the time of diagnosis. He never thought it would get that far! I keep telling her that she needs to write a book. All of this medical stuff is just another challenge in the incredible story of her life. As an example, her x husband is now in prison for beating up his girlfriend. When he was arrested, he used his one phone call to call Ali... to ask her to bail him out. Seriously? Through everything, she is raising 3 extraordinary children.
She has another appointment next week, at which time she will discuss stem cell therapy with him. Onward and upward!
