Update on my daughter, Ali.... the saga continues

Ali had an appointment with her dr. yesterday. He won't let her return to her job, due to the long hours for her position. (45 hours minimum) and the physical lifting that her employer would require. So she is going on permanent disability, which he assures her she will get. She is conflicted about it, but knows she can't perform her former duties.

My last update, included her battle with an infection, following surgery to reattach her pacemaker and defibrilatory leads, and to reposition her device, which had flipped, due to violent coughing from a bad case of bronchitis. What the dr. didn't tell her at the time was that the infection was MRSA. Apparently, she has beat that as well. He didn't want to tell her at the time, since that could have thrown her into a panic, and she has severe heart failure to begin with... She is very grateful that she didn't know. I love her cardiologist.

Her ejection franction is up to 37...from 8 at the time of diagnosis. He never thought it would get that far! I keep telling her that she needs to write a book. All of this medical stuff is just another challenge in the incredible story of her life. As an example, her x husband is now in prison for beating up his girlfriend. When he was arrested, he used his one phone call to call Ali... to ask her to bail him out. Seriously? Through everything, she is raising 3 extraordinary children.

She has another appointment next week, at which time she will discuss stem cell therapy with him. Onward and upward!

Holy christ, Coffee. She certainly has been through the wringer on this but thank god she has come this far. I'm glad she's got you there to support her through all of this. I'm glad to hear that they're talking about the stem cell therapy, as this is the penacillin of the 21st century and it's going to re-write medical procedures as we know it. Tell her we're all rooting for her!

    (Isn't her ex a Witness?)

Thank you for the update your poor daughter has had everything thrown at her. She has shown remarkable courage. To beat MRSA in her condition is amazing I am not surprised he didn't tell her although I would hope other people were aware of the rigorous hygiene required.

I hope she is on the road to recovery and can finally start moving ahead with her life.

I think of her often. I hope she didn't bail out her ex he doesn't deserve it, he certainly didn't deserve her.

Fantastic idea! . . . if she's used to working and being productive, and with so much to tell. Ali sounds like an inspirational person, and I for one would love to read her story one day.

Onward and upward . . . way to go Coffee and Ali

Her x was never a jw. He is a piece of work. Cheated on her, held a gun in her mouth...drug addict...could never hold a job....bipolar...you name it. It took her 7 years to divorce him, because he managed to avoid being served with divorce papers, and moved around so much, they could never catch up with him. He kept threatening to take the kids, and continually called DSS on her for imagined offenses...using the system to harrass her. They finally saw through his lies. In fact, she was approved as a foster mother. She can't do that now, though. Three kids are enough to take care of in her present condition.

She did not bail him out. He is much better off where he can't harm or threaten her...or the kids.

    Mary,

While Ali's x isn't a jw...my x, Ali's father is. He hasn't been much help through all of this...although I think he tries... they don't have much of a relationship. He has remarried a woman younger than Ali. She is sweet...and I feel so sorry for her... but that's another story.

Suprising . . . he sounds like a perfect description of some JW's I knew. Prison or KH . . . not much difference, so he's where he belongs. Sounds like Ali's kids have a fantastic family without him in it.
