Some heads are going to explode when they read this.

I threw away my Led Zepellin IV (on vinyl) when I got the word about "Stairway." I might not have done so except a roommate was freaking out about it. I chucked some other stuff at the same time (notably "Tommy" and "Live at Leeds" by the Who). Thankfully, most of it (including Led Zep and The Who) has been replaced. I have yet to replace the King Crimson, mainly because it isn't a priority and it is hard to find.

The rumor about Glen Campbell was that he had been baptized at the (fill in the blank) DC. I first heard that one at the 1973 International DC in Vancouver BC.

For a group that loves truth so much, they sure do latch on to urban legends. sheesh.

JeffT....hell no! Not Zepellin IV on vinyl. That's gotta sting. But I too threw out the Led at one point...Zepellin II on CD.

Another story was that John Denver (maybe Glen Campbell?) said in one of his concerts "If there are any Jehovah's Witnesses here, please leave."

Rumor in my area is that Earth Wind and Fire said this at one of their concerts in the late 70's.

Same here, I always wondered what the real story was behind that. I seem to recall another thread dispelling both the Earth/Wind/Fire and John Denver rumor.

I heard The Tea Party also asked dubs to leave their concert.

All I know is that after listening to Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" I had an insatiable desire to light up a fattie.

I was going to an OMD show and told an elder about it in casual conversation and he asked me "Does the 'D' stand for Devil?"

Stupid people are afraid of metal. Give them a nice, simple R&B or country song or their brains will explode. People with low IQs invariably call metal "noise", because their malfunctioning brains can't operate fast enough to differentiate among the instruments or between the notes. Don't misunderstand; I agree there is some low-brow, crap metal out there. But when you play something truly profound for a flaming idiot and all they come back with is "It sounds like Satanic noise", you're dealing with a certifiable moron.

For a group that loves truth so much

JWs despise truth. They love The Truth tm . The honest, provable, Biblical, scientific, historical truth will land you in the back room being interrogated by men who should be in Styrofoam helmets.

p.s. The John Denver story (and others like it) can be found here.
