This lesson was a knock-off, of Steven Convey,.....they should just stick to their little bible examples.

    4. Why might others want to make decisions for us?

Because they run a high control group masquarading as a religion........

I couldn't get my comments in around blood but this is what I said in another one (the one about the boat):

When we are rudderless in a sea, we don't guide ourselves but the waves guide us, just like we need to have a steady faith as faith and truth doesn't change, if we notice that our faith or the truth keeps changing, as the paragraph says, we are guided by humans and human philosophies, not by God.

The conductor said "very good point", paused for what seems to be an eternity, then looked at me as if something clicked, paused and you could hear a pin drop it seemed like then uhm, well, uhm, let's move on then.

The one about blood seemed to be the elephant in the room, only 2 hardliners (Sr. Knowitall and Elder Betterthanyou) wanted to comment on it outright banning blood, the rest danced around the issue as if they wanted to say something.

We can save ourselves and others much anxiety and grief if we modestly make decisions only when we have been granted the authority to do so.

    From paragraph 11

So who grants us the authority to make decisions? Is it implying we can't make decisions unless the elders grant us the authority? This comment was right after mentioning that elders make decisions in the congregation and follow closely the instructions of the FDS.

    Steps to Making Good Decisions

    1 Avoid Being Presumptuous

    2 Do Research

    3 Pray for Wisdom

    4 Make the Decision

    5 Implement the Decision

That is O K ...when I had a sort of revelation that "the Truth" was not what it said it was I made a good decision, after thinking about it (step 1) doing research . praying, making up my mind and forming an exit strategy, then I could quit....Best decision ever !

    I thought p 11 was a tad cotradictory :

    p11] Elders make decisions

    that affect the congregation. However,

they make sure that they “do not go beyond

the things that are written” in God’s

Word. (1 Cor. 4:6) They also follow closely

the direction they receive from the faithful

    slave

O K so which is it ? The Bible or following the FDS? If they really followed just The Bible and did not go beyond it, they would not d/f people for smoking tobacco, celebrating a birthday or disagreeing with the WTS.....but they do , dont't they?
