I can type 95 WPM with a 80% accuracy.
I can type 70 WPM with a 95% accuracy.
I can type 90 wpm with 30% accuracy.
and 30 wpm with 90% accuracy.
78 wpm, per Nickolas' test. But I had two errors. teh (which I notice that I do all the time. I think I have disleic fingers, and my 'eks' still isn't working on my keyboard, lol) Also Cictory vines instead of Victory vines. Don't know how I did that :)
Yes, learned to type in the early 1960s. We had mostly manual typewriters in school, but I begged until I was allowed to have one of the 2 or 3 IBM selectrics (the type ball kind) we had in the class.
It did turn out to be a good asset for computer programming, but todays keyboard typing is much different than the old stenographic kind:
For one thing, speed is not so important now - usually you are thinking and composing as you type, so the convenience of knowing the keys by touch is more important than blazing speed.
For another - perfect character by character accuracy is no longer an issue. With instant editing, you can fix any error in real time - provided you can spell, write correct english, and are not too lazy to do so.
BTW - do they still teach secretarial shorthand in school? I took it in high school for college note taking but really never used it much.
I can type. I took the test that Botchtower Society posted. The first time I got 25, the second time 35 wpm
I took typing in the 7th grade. I type every day at work. I'm not fast, but I'm fast enough for what I have to do.
I work in a jail and have to type police reports all the time maybe thats why I am slow, I deal with a lot of unusual
names and I try to spell them right the first time. We get counselled if we spell inmates names wrong.
I took typing in 7th grade and was horrific at it. I pecked the key board for years - I think now I have a peck/type style now that is not at all conventional, but seems to work with how I type.
I was watching and I move my right hand around a lot.
I can type, not near as fast as some of you. But I am very good at spelling and grammar.
Reopened Mind
60-70 wpm normally, 90 wpm if motivated.
