    Great pictures wifibandit !

I recognized the De Montfort Hall in Leicester.... I have been there a few times for music gigs. I know that the dubs had a "landmark" assembly there back in WW2 years

75 years on and those people are no doubt dead and the movement still expectantly waits for the "Theocratic kingdom"

Very tuching pickture, my fadher was on this shipp, never forget when I 10 years old waited fore him to come home , and meet him at the buss, loong time ago, unother life, now thinking back, is very hurtfull, after so many years almost a life in a religion destroing peopel.

Almost evryone on this ship, was very confident about that the end was soo near,

I was myself in assembly 1969, in NY, it was a very exiting experiens fore a young man from sweden never before been out of my country, many happy memories, from this time, never foreget all the beutifull girls I meet ther,:))

Wifi - your collection of images is tremendous!

I was particularly drawn to the image of the two soldiers walking down the street and in the background, a group of JWs with their backs turned to them. That single photo evokes a fairly large political and social discourse.

Wifi, thanks. My favorite is of the older couple coming out of the baptismal pool together, arm in arm. So much hope on their faces.

Telling and sad in equal measure.

    So much hope

    so much conviction

so much belief in the absolute correctness of their beliefs and in the falsity of everything else

    ...but too little humility,

too little preparedness to think for themselves,

    too much naivete

and far too much trust in men's interpreations and pronouncements.

The 1940s were my maternal and paternal grandparents heyday in the organization. They forged new territories in New Zealand and were absolutely convinced the end was a hair's breadth away. All 4 were deceased by 1981.

Now I watch my parents' generation dying off after a lifetime living as though the end was just around the corner.

No mystery really: Their end - and ever other humans on the face of the earth - is around the corner.

Make the most of what you've got and NEVER - repeat NEVER - place your faith, hope and trust in man-ruled organizations, religious or otherwise. NEVER.

    Great pics wifibandit.

What strikes me is how little has changed at the conventions in the last 60-70 years.

Still have men walking around with "silence" and "find your seat" signs.
    Still have a volunteers desk.
    Baptism much the same.
People sitting on the floor or on steps for lunch.
A multicultural dress wearing welcome party for the press.
The layout, signage and advertising is just the same.
    Queues for the ladies toilets.
That vacant stare into the middle distance.
