When you step down is it announced at the hall? Ive never seen anyone step down when I went to the hall. Im wondering if they announced when I left.

They announce it, but they don't call it step down, I think they use the term "stepped aside" instead. So as not to give the impression the elders are elevated. I think when it comes to MS, they announce that they have been deleted. Which is a truly funny underused use of the delete button.

Yes, they say usually during announcements "SIAM is no longer serving as an elder in the Buttpuppet Congregation"
Then everyone looks at you and wonders " what did he do to screw up?"

Well if they announced it I wasnt there for it. I never attended another meeting after I got deleted. I just imagine all the shocked, horrified faces at the KH.

I was fading. They announced "Brother OTWO is no longer serving as an elder in the Buttpuppet Congregation" I was there.
I made sure I commented in the "service meeting." [I had to actually think to remember what meeting followed the announcements. ;-)]
That way, the people knew I wasn't in trouble. I hadn't lost my commenting privileges. Looking back, it's all pretty silly.
Edited to add: They had to announce you if you left. It migt have come after the C.O. visit or it might have come sooner. But they had to anounce it sooner or later.

Actually, it's much colder, almost insulting.
The official announcement is "Brother Awakened has been deleted as an elder."
If you hear something like that, look for who gives the closing prayer at that night's meeting.
If Brother Deleted gives the prayer, he didn't do anything to get in trouble, he quit due to a "legitiamte" excuse in the eyes of the BOE. Heath issues, family issues,etc.
But if Brother Deleted doesn't give the closing prayer, then he did something wrong - not enough to get himself DF'ed but close - talked to a DF relative, sent his kid to college, etc.

My grandma would always correct me if I said "stepped down." She said, "you can't step down because you were never up."
When my father "stepped aside" my mom kept us out in the car so we didn't have to hear it. I'm not sure if he announced it himself, or someone else did.
