I wasn't there when my announcement was read, but I believe all that is said is 'Brother so-and-so has been deleted as an elder' They definitely do not refer to the person as having 'stepped aside' or 'stepped down' or stepped anywhere.

Exactly right, one of the first lessons I learned as an Elder was there was no 'stepping down' you were 'Removed'.

I was 'deleted.'
9 years later I deleted the entire cult.

I remember when it was stepped aside for those who voluntarily stopped because of some WT sanctioned reason (family, etc.).
One elder was getting divorced, so his announcement was because of family responsibilities so and so has decided it would be best to step aside from being an elder.
They made sure it was worded in such a way that no one got the idea that he did anything wrong.
Deleted, as I recall, meant you did something to get kicked off the body.
I remember those announcements.
Kinda gives a visual, doesn't it

In our congregation they proceed the same way as described above by sir82- a legitimate reason to step down would be confirmed by having the brother still offer prayer at the end of the meeting in which the announcement of the deletion was made...not having the brother pray may leed some to believe something went wrong...in my case I didn't attend the meeting when it was announce that brother NVR2L8 no longer serves as a MS but I am sure they would have asked me to pray to close the meeting...but I would have refused.

They announced "Brother OTWO is no longer serving as an elder in the Buttpuppet Congregation" I was there.I made sure I commented in the "service meeting."
I made sure that I commented too. Didn't want rumors spreading. (Not that there is ever gossip at the KH.)In my experience , everybody knew already, why, when, what for. No need to make a point. There were even some who were "pleased" for the person concerned. What insight!

This was my experience also (I'm led to believe) "deleted" was the term used here whatever the reason.
I was "deleted" . . . just after I backspaced and paged-up.

I was told they did mine nicely, they said I was no longer serving, but thanked me for my years of hard work.
I wasn't there to hear it, by accident, not design.
