This is somewhat related to my previous topic.
I dropped a friendly email to my old study conductor (how you doing? Hope your well. You still enjoying...? I'm doing this nowadays....) a few days ago and he still hasn't replied. I think he was quite quick replying when I was his study.
I'm slightly suspicious I'm being "study shunned".
So basically, my questions in the title. Thoughts?

maybe it depends on the reasons for stopping the study. If he felt you had apostate leanings then he will avoid you but if you just didn't progress quickly enough they may attempt another study.
I'm not sure what apostate leanings means? I thought apostates were Jehovah's Witnesses who were believing "false" teachings (from the WT point of view) and maybe spreading them too.

Even non-JW's can be considered as apostate if they show an "opposing attitude". Don't forget according to JW's, Christendom is already apostate.

It's when someone sounds like they are in contact with so called apostates, and start asking the usual questions.
No, non-jws can be labeled apostates. The WTS regularly labels priests, ministers, and others apostates. Anyone who has professed to be a Christian and believes differently than the WTS, can be apostates, having left " true" Christianity.
Hi EducatingMyself I have been visited by three of my old study ladies now...And it has been very nice. I think we all know where we stand so no one brings up anything related to studying...we keep the conversation on a personal basis.
I have no doubt however that they are testing the waters. But hey! Thats up to them. I'm just glad they popped round cause it was lovely to see them.
Maybe yours is aware or has the feeling you want to convert him....I'm sure that would put him off. They are not in the business of being converted...they do the converting.
Do you want to keep in touch because you genuinely like this person? and want to maintain a friendship? Or, is it just to save him from the Watchtower? If it is the latter, I would say. why waste your time, they have their own journey in life and it is not up to you to convert anyone, especially if they don't want to hear it...it is between them and their God.
Alreet stillthinking. Its both really. Admittly I'd like to show him the errors of the watchtower but on the other hand I would settle for maintaining a friendship, especially as I knew him and his family for a few months.
I'm guessing they're labelling me apostate then. I had been warned from "browsing the internet" lol, that there were many lying apostates around. haha. At least they got half right - there is in fact many liers on the internet, but the JW apostates talk quite a lot of sense! ha. It also probably didn't help that I mentioned I attend a different church now. Oops.
I remember he told me once how shunning people, was "for their own good, to make them see the errors of their ways". But I just think its quite rude really, I haven't killed anyone! Luckily for me I didn't have any family in so I could just dump it right away.
P.S. to Blondie, quite a few of your posts on here helped me wise up to the teachings of the WT quickly, good work and keep it up! (And everyone else who does the same - you never know who is browsing around!!!)

He can't count his time talking to you anymore, so there's no reason for him to spend time on you unless he really wanted your friendship.
