Talks like this reveal the ignorance of Jehovah's Witnesses.

The Watchtower is not the only religion to make changes publically. For example, the largest Church - Catholicism - is well known for its changes, with Synods have been held thoughout history to discuss and modify issues of doctrine. The Second Vatican council, ending in 1965, made changes in an attempt to integrate traditional teachings with modern knowledge. Changes were made regarding liturgy, administrative practices, ecumenism and adding of the doctrine that Mary is the Mother of the church.

Good info guys. (special thanks to JWFACTS...your site was the alarm clock that got me to "wake up" literally.) It's all becoming so "laughable" now. I know 4 Elders on my side of town that are 32yrs or younger. I'm sure there's more. I know the C.O. will be curious about me since I haven't reported time in 5 to 6 months. Maybe he'll ask for me to quit my job so I can preach. He once bragged at an assembly about how swiftly they DF'd a sister for working in one of the FBI's administrative offices. (Its only a gov't job, not the military. Guess she would've been privy to what's on file about the Watchtower)

"Basically, he was saying not to worry about questions concerning false prophecies because we don't go by them anymore."

Well, Yes, they don't go by them anymore BECAUSE they were false prophecies!

@ Raging Bull - I added a little 'flavor' to the story about the girl that was baptized at 10. I told my wife during the meeting that the following year, the girl got married! 'Cuz you know, she was so ready to make a life long committment to an organization at that early age that, well, what the hell, might as well get married too!! LOL

My wife just smirked. (She's still a believer.)

@CoC - that went thru my mind. I wondered if she would be married off at 16, 17 or 18yrs of age since she's so Mature. I think Spiritual Maturity takes longer in a lot of cases than physical and mental maturity.

Basically, he was saying not to worry about questions concerning false prophecies because we don't go by them anymore......Also he mentioned the importance of the Field Ministry (of course) and how the Good News of the Kingdom has indeed been preached to every Nation.

Sooo, what is the 'good news' that they've been preaching that's so important? Oh wait a minute, isn't it the 'false prophecies' that never materialized?

Let's see: false prophecies + public preaching = False Prophets.

If he really used the term "false prophecies" (even assuming that he's quoting critics such as apostates) he's admitting, at least tacitly, that jws do have a history of false predictions. By saying "we don't go by those anymore" he's in effect making the same admission.

@Rocketman... he most certainly did say that. Even mentioned Rutherford saying "Millions Will Never Die" what the Generations mean, 1975, etc. he said "We don't believe these things anymore..."

If I had a digital recorder or something it would've been perfect. I thought "Is he really f**king saying this?!"
