Oh, I think one thing to keep in mind about these answers is that the women aren't just saying what they think... but also what they think the judges want to hear.

I think it would be worthwhile finding out which schools these girls attended . . . so you can avoid sending your kids there.

Evolution is not taught in American schools????

    WOW! I am truly shocked.

the second vid is LOL funny, but it's too bad it makes the women look stupid --- I don't like beauty pageants, but the majority of the women gave quite reasonable replies (in the extended version), considering they are trying to satisfy ALL of America with their answers.

The fact that they have entered a beauty pageant makes them funny....their answers are just a bonus.

talesin...did you actually watch the extended version?

I would love for schools to try and teach intelligent design in science class - that would be hilarious. The kids would really come out smart and easily compete with all the Chinese in the global economy then.

I'm amazed... Arizona and Arkansas BOTH gave fairly balanced answers...

Is it just me, or is there a preponderance of blondes among the contestants??

Miss California gets major minuses for her comment, "I like to believe in the 'Big Bang' theory..." She's no science geek...

Miss Colorado used a lot of nebulous terms when she addressed the issue...

    I liked Miss Delaware's take...

Hawaii's answer was a little wishy=washy, and Idaho clearly inclines towards creationism, though she's trying to appear fair and balanced...

Okay... Kentucky's an idiot... Don't teach evolution because there's so many different versions/theories??? Then they'd better not teach comparative religious classes, either...

Whoops... My mistake... Of COURSE Kentucky doesn't have comparative religious classes, either!! That would involve too many DIFFERENT versions...!!!

At about 8 minutes, most of the ladies have indicated that both should be taught in schools...

    New Mexico was funny!!

HAW!!! Miss Utah!!! She must be Mormon; she seemed extremely hesitant to commit herself to the idea of teaching evolution in school...

Miss Vermont made the best pro-evolution-in-schools comment so far...

Aaaargh!! Miss Virginia!! She sounds like a bimbo!!

And while we're mentioning bimbos, so is Miss Washington...

In the final analysis, I like what Tec said:

"Why not teach evolution in science class (where it belongs) and also teach the difference between theory, fact, scientific theory, and laws... then teach creationism in all its various interpretations in religion class (if the school has a religion class) or in church?
Plus, parents can teach as they please at home. ..."

    She shoulda been a contestant.

I would have voted for her!!

"Here she comes! The new Miss Jehovah'sWitnessesdotNet!

All hail Tec, our new beauty queen!!

and teach intelligent design in science class - that would be hilarious.

Oh contraire. I think that all that would need to be said is that there are those who believe that there is intelligent design in the natural material universe. Then show the DNA molecule and other molecules and atoms in their complexities. Then teach about the mathmatic formulas involved in the structures. Then tell that some believe the material universe to be too complex to have evolved. And leave it at that. No religion, just a mention of an alternate origin.
