The first time it was explained to me as a kid in that pinkish/peachy Paradise Lost book, I wondered why it had to happen with the first ones, instead of later people messing up.
Why did it have to happen with the ones who could pass on that horrible gene?
I might have been about six at the time.

It feels like everyone has overlooked the psycologiacal side of the story. God said "don't eat the fruit", but the human brain is incapable of processing the word "don't". What the brain registers is "do". That's why you always drop the glass when someone tells you not to... Guess God forgot that part...
