How do I hide likes on facebook?

I tried to follow this following instruction, it is not helping me at all.
to hide interests and likes ~~>from your home page click Account-Privacy settings- at the top of the page where you see Basic Directory Info- click on View Settings

Account (Top-right), Privacy Settings (from the drop box), Edit your settings (under Apps and Websites, bottom left), Info accessible through your friends (Edit Settings), uncheck "Activities, interests, things I like"
I do not guarantee this is correct, but I believe it to be.
