In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz
Before anything else, read Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan.
I second In Search of Christian Freedom.
You can also try Simply Christian by NT Wright and the Reason For God by Timothy keller.

In short, don't just read about what is on one side of the fence but read what is on Both.
