I also suggest Don Cameron's Captives of a Concept.

Stephen Hawking The Grand Design is a good read too.

If you are looking for Fantasy before you read the bible, I suggest the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

For every book that shows religion to be a delusion, there is one ( at least) that shows the reasontotally buys into the delusion behind it.

You now know that WT is not and has never been, 'God's Organization'. As Mad Sweeney has suggested, you now need to understand WHY seven million people strongly believe this. Moreover, you need to understand why none of them will listen to reason or examine the irrefutable, contrary evidence. Hassan's book will allow you to identify and eliminate any Irrational Fears & Phobias that you may have, as a result of the constant indoctrination within the WT.

Therefore, I'll repeat what Mad Sweeney said:

Before anything else, read Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan.

I haven't read Nicolaou's Straight and Crooked Thinking - Prof' R H Thouless, but it sounds like something I would put at the top of the list.

Any good book that teaches the critical thinking skills that we suppressed for so long has to be beneficial. For a starter, they will help you develop a better quality BS detector.

Sorry, I meant alter what I said in quote, you know what I mean.

I don't do it to anyone and I would prefer it that no one does it to me.

Not asking too much am I?

I prefer to think of it more as a kinetic corrective enhancement. It's not asking too much as long as asking you to not label Christian apologists works as research.

    You're better than that.

Not sure I understand, are you saying the that writings of the likes of Gary Habermas, NT Wright, Peter Enns, Bruce Metzger, William Lane Criag and others like them are not research?
