Who has NOT read Combatting Cult Mind Control or Crisis of Conscience?

    Leaving explains it pretty well.

For me, CCMC helps a former member like me to understand exactly what was done to me by the Borg and how they did it. What is impressive, as Leaving says, is that the book is about cults in general and has many examples, NONE of which are JWs but ALL of which reflect Watchtower practices in some way.

Knowing what they do to members and recruits, to me, helps me to understand what happened to me and prevent it from ever happening again, as well as equipping me to help others.

If you want to know WHY seven million people will do anything that 10 strangers in Brooklyn tell them to, then read CCMC.

Ray Franz does not answer this question. Hassan does.

    CCMC is on my list.

    Also, ISOCF.

    Have read COC.

I haven't read either of them... especially since I already have my own reasons for having left and for NEVER going back. I don't really need a book to tell me what I know in my own heart. I might read CCMC when I feel up to challenging my family on some issues later on. I might even read CoC later on too, just for the shits and giggles...

No sadly I have yet to read either. Proscrastination in ordering them is the issue. Both are on my must -read list and when I finish posting here I should go do that.

CCMC is particulary of interest as I think I've done a good job de-programming so far, but there are still some things that feel "hard-wired". Sounds like that book will help.

Why doesn't interest me enough to read a book about it. I've seen and lived it, I understand the basics of it and have come to terms with it in my own way. I'm at peace with my past and with who I am. That said, I was lucky enough to have 1 parent out and a huge family support system when I left which made the experience of leaving much easier than most here, I would think. Perhaps that is part of the reason I don't feel compelled to read these books explaining. I left young and didn't lose the entirety of my support system... in fact, I gained a much bigger one. If I had lost more in my exit I might be more inclined to read such a book, perhaps.

I'm still going through "Crisis of Conscience". I had to take breaks from it,because it was hard to read through all the tears. I realized I was duped for all these years.

I haven't read "Combatting Cult Mind Control" but I have read excerpts of it.

I second what MAD SWEENEY & LEAVING WT says as to the importance of reading these books. I recommend it CONSTANTLY so much on this board I'm starting to think I'm some kind of damned parrot ! These books helped me immensely ! Especially both of Steve Hassan's books. But Franz two books and Hassan's two books rock. Definitely a must read for exiting JW's

I have read COC, but not CCMC.

I have this which probably covers much of what is in CCMC
