Wow, Talesin, I didn't realize you were out that long or that you were that, ahem, old.

factfinder, hang in there. It is a hard road, especially walking alone. JWN's here for you.

So thinking that got me to wondering, who here has NOT read them (or has read one but not the other), and how ARE you coping with exiting the Borg? Did you get counseling? Go to meetups? Just participate in online discussions? Got busy living and tried not to look back at all? What were your methods of exiting and adjusting and how successful do you feel they've been without the above-mentioned books?

I've not read any of the books, but maybe will someday.

To answer your other questions, I didn't left the JW's and don't plan to do so. Can't see what good would it do for me. It hasn't done much good for many on this board either. This doesn't mean I criticize anybody for his decision, it's only an conclusion.

My life is certainly not perfect, but doing just fine and what I think is the best for me.

God's love and blessing be with all the victims during their recovery!

Kudos to those contributing to this information strand.

Our family endorses these two books, and others that were mentioned.

We've got the Cult Mind Control Book to help us understand how the WT uses people, but haven't read it yet.

One in our family has read France's Book to explain why they don't give satisfactory answers to the flock.

A well rounded psychological profile which includes the Cong's is also very telling.

Such as books about; cliques, queen bees, bed personality types, controllers and their yes men...

    @Talesin and Mad Sweeny-

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm still hanging on. If my financial situation ever improves enough I will look into those books.

There is a lot of excellent information on jwn-so many great posts!

I'd love to hear what you base that opinion on. I encourage you to start a thread on it.

Amazon has used books on psychology, mind control and JW abuse issues; some form $3 to $11

w/shipping about 3-5 dollars a book. So maybe you can start w/ one or two until you save up for a few more.

Theres also the on-line Christan Book Distributors who run quarterly sales; really cheep!

Why on earth is Crisis of Conscience so expensive?!? I want to read it, but I cannot spend $25 on it. And some copies are over $100?!?! If I can find the time I will try the library, but ordering from amazon is my usual MO because it's so easey...
