What would you do to disconnect from the Jehovah's Witnesses? Some actually go as far as commiting a wrong to deliberately get disfellowshipped.
The disfellowshipping becomes their "ticket to ride" right out of the organization.
Former Jehovah's witness Carrie was not happy growing up in the so called "truth". The rules, the meetings, service, was just becoming to much and she wanted out.
Carrie deliberately got pregnant out of wedlock to become disfellowshipped to be kicked out of the organization. Her elder father was ashamed and disgraced that his daughter no longer wanted to follow Jehovah (the org.) Evidentely Carrie's father felt he did not do his job in raising Carrie. To prove to the congregation that he could raise a child to be committed and devoted to the org. he offered to buy Carrie's child for 30K and raise the child as a commited Jehovah's Witness.
