Since sex is major part of his lyrics, I would say JWs are urged to stay away. As a child of the 70s, I remember 2 out of 3, but not Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. My uncle, who went to Bethel, had quite a cassette tape collection, including Boston, Styx, etc. I don't remember him having Bat out of Hell. I do remember all the craziness about Queen and backward masking on Other One Bites the Dust.

Ah, the joys of listening to what you want and singing along at the top of your voice all those words you had to change, like Jim Croce's Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, baddest man in the whole DAMN town.

Paradise by the Dashboard Lights! That song was a blast to belt out at the top of our lungs. The lyrics were easy to remember and the final verse was so funny.

Queen's Another One Bites the Dust, Backwards :)

As for Meatloaf, it was probably because he used the word Hell and the covers were deemed 'demonic'. Or maybe because of his stand against shunning your family - I would do anything for love, but I won't do that! :)

He's my favorite rocker, I've seen him twice. The second time I saw him at a meet/greet and got a pic with him.

I love his music, it is similar to Queen, called rock opera.

I had the original BOOH album until the jws scared me to death about demons. My spawn found it for me at a garage sale, so yes I have the original BOOH 1.

He is just amazing and his writer is Jim Steinman-equally amazing. The songs are raging hormones set the music. my favorite song by him is of course the original BOOH but also from his second BOOH2 album in 93( Grammy award winning) the song" Objects in the rear view mirror" It has the most touching video I have ever seen. ( the song that got the Grammy was " I'd do anything for love , but I want do that" )

Glad to see some other Meat fans out there! He is still active and on line. He was born sept 27 , 1947 so like the rest of us , he getting up there . he can still sing. Now when you see him perform "paradise" at the concerts he as two teen/20's kids play the make out part. It is still hot to watch.

    To all congregations

    Dear Brothers,

A great deal as been said over the years as to the profound effect of music. It can readily be said that music is indeed a delight. It can be relaxing and refreshing to listen to wholesome music for those working hard in Jehovah's service. But it serves us well to review from time to time the choices we are making in this area.

No doubt we all agree, that there are forms of musical expression that openly promote ungodly practices, and that promote unwholesome themes. It would appear that some music that has a catchy melody, or appears wholesome at first, may on closer examination fall into the unwholesome category. Evidently, some forms of music are becoming increasingly subtle in conveying an unwholesome message. So how can we "guard our hearts" in this area? (Prov 4;23).

Surely it would be the wise course to restrict ourselves to that form of musical expression the expressly praises our loving God Jehovah. Singing his praise undoubtedly gladdens his heart (Ps 96;1,2). Additionally, we receive healthy reminders of the importance of the vital preaching work He is carrying out during the final part of these last days. And who can deny that the time is indeed short?

So brothers, are we making good use of the provisions of the Faithful and Discreet Slave in our choice of music? Do we have the delightful Kingdom Melodies available in our homes and even in in our car? Some families even find it a delight to sing selected songs from the publication "Songs of Praise to Jehovah" at home together. Doing so enables us to give full voice in our public praises when attending the Kingdom Hall. Does every member of our family have a personal copy?

This timely reminder will serve to unite us more fully and find the true delight that wholesome music can add to our daily worship, and enable us to be "fully pleasing" our Grand Creator, Jehovah God. (1Joh 3;22).

    Your brothers,

    Watchtower Bible and Tract Society
