Thanks Curious.... my granddaughter (the one that was in the horrific accident 2 years ago) is visiting with me for a month. I want to make the most of my time with her... and have had to take it as easy as possible this past week. Hopefully, I'll be over this in time to do some fun stuff with her. We went to Plymouth Plantation last week one day after work... and she has some friends here that she has been able to hang out with, swim with, and go to the movies with. There's so much for her to see here.... hopefully, I'll be feeling well enough to do more with her before she has to leave.

Here she is with her fake nerd glasses.... hard to believe she broke/shattered every bone in her face 2 years ago by crashing face first into a tree after losing control of the bike she was riding.

I've had shingles twice. It is way more common in older people 60 and over, I was 33, I think, the last time I had them and 10 the first time. The last time I was able to get the meds and it went away in a week. The worst part is the nerve pain. That can last for months and months. Mine went away after a few weeks. I went to work oneday and told my friend that I was having pain that started in my back under my sholder blade and went around to my breast. She looked at the tiny little sore that I had on my back and told me to go to the doctor because she thought it was shingles. She was right!!

My doctor told me that anyone who has had the chicken pox can get it, but people 60 and older are much more likely to get it then a younger person. In fact it was extremely rare that I had it at 10 years old. The doctor also told me that stress can cause your immune system to decrease and that can cause the shingles. I happened to find out about 3 or 4 months later after the second time I had them that I am a diabetic which can also affect your immune system. Add diabetes with the stress of working 80 hours a week between 2 jobs and yeah it's no wonder that I got them again.

I hope you feel better. I know the pain your feeling and I sympathize with you. I would also recommend you get a physical asap after your feeling better just to rule out any under laying cause that my be affecting your immune system.

Shingles seems to be making a big come back I know 4 or so people who have had it now. Young healthy people. It is not to be ignored, one of them almost died from complications.

    Feel better soon coffee black.

Beautiful pic of your granddaughter! Glad you're on the mend now...I had them some years ago and it was painful and debilitating. Sounds like you need a tonic and/or a good rest?? Take care.

Ugh, I had shingles when I was 21 a few months after a course of radiation therapy. It was extremely painful.

I had it as a teen... do to stress. I didn't know what it was till it was too late for meds. It didn't stop me just made me hurt. Sounds like you need some ativan or some chill pill?FS

I am in my 9th week of Shingles. The nerve pain is just now getting tolerable. I can't remember the month of June at all as I was in a 'pain brain haze'. I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy and I can think of a few who would qualify. I'll tell ya how bad I was: my husband has lost 20lbs!.....
