It amazeses me just how many people have stopped going to meetings or get disfellowshiped yet still believe it is the truth and live under a burden of guilt for many years.
Should we not be targeting these ones as they one day in a low emotional state will probably drift back to their "mother org"?
I know of many people who left the truth even for more than 20 years and then went back.
They in all that time never looked at or came across any information to help them.
One of my friends went out of the truth over 10 years ago( he was not baptised), he then started studying about 2 years ago , got baptised a then within a year left again because he realised it was wrong.Yet in all that time before he never came across any info to show it wasn't the truth and now has to go through all the hassle of leaving after being baptised.
So is there a way to target those who have left or been disfellowshipped?
Maybe a web site focusing on them?
It could be true that there are more ex'Jw's who believe it is the truth than those who don't.

An interesting point, sleepy. I know what you mean, until I got on the net I was the same.

If the WBTS REALLY was the 'truth' surely Satan would use that time when we were away to infiltrate our minds?

In reality it just shows how unimportant the WBTS really is in the scheme of things. Quite frankly the world doesn't care tuppence about JWs or their cranky beliefs and therefore there is little media attention. Then there is the mind-conditioning which prevents ex jws from looking into other religions, especially Christian ones, so ex jws never seem to actively seek out information from anyone.

I don't see what a special site for them would accomplish that existing sites don't already. But don't worry, more and more people are getting online and the information is getting out.

The Net will catch the borg.

I know people who only go to a meeting once every three years (but every memorial), and still consider themselves witnesses. They really believe it, but with no real conviction.

I'd bet if they knew half of what we know, that a whole bunch of 'inactive' people would be shutting the door on the WTBTS forever.

This is so true, but there are those people that I know who just won't look at any information. I don't understand this because when I began feeling doubts about the borg I craved and researched any knowledge I could find that proved and validated my feelings.

I researched, too. But, too many are so afraid of the 'apostate' word that out of superstitious fear they stay away from it. It's so sad, because it could open their eyes very quickly.

I agree - in fact there are many former jw who THOUGHT they could talk to a DFed person and the person would listen only to find out that the person went straight to the elders to report them

the high control groups such as wt have a long lasting effect on it's members unless they educate themselves-

in fact most feel guilty like you mentioned thinking that they can never measure up to god's standards

i know this woman who was dfed and since she felt that she would die at armeggodon anyway she might as well LIVE IT IT and she was swinging "Coochie" everywhere- only to realize there ain't know end around the corner, she needed to keep her drawers on and get back into school cause she will be living for the next 40years and will need so retirement money-

once she realized that she was NOT GOING TO DIE she got herself straight found her one man to have and is moving on with her life

but only after coming to a clear understanding of what she was a part of and how it impacted all her decisions in her life

now she can make wise and good decisions that will make her happy

but there are tons of jw who are dfed , inactive and soforth who have been out for decades and like you mentioned they STILL BELIEVE THIS IS THE TRUTH

I'm sure I don't believe in that crap anymore.

I did speak with a DFed witness when I was active and she reported me. I was a little pissed at her as I was just trying to show her I still cared about her. But that's the way it goes when you have that mindset.

I will remind JWs of my stand now and then(stickers in my window too) cuz I DO NOT want to listen to the message no more - like we also agree JWs message is nothing but crap..(((HUGS)))

I was one of those who was too scared to look at "apostate" information. I still believed it was the truth for 10 years after I was DFed. Then a friend asked me a question and I had to do a bit of research for her. Well.... I was just shocked at what I found out. And finally their stranglehold on my mind broke. But it took so very long.

So while I was "in" for 22 years I feel like I was in for 32 years due to their continued influence

But it is gone for good now:):)

It all goes to show that just because someone is dissfellowshiped or even hasnt been to meetings for scores of years doesnt necessarily mean that they are not a JW in the Primary sense, that of the MIND,I have met several ones who have said they are no longer JWs but on drawing them out a bit still have a lot of the fear and entrapment of the JW mindset in them,I am glad to have been able to help them sometimes in some way to shed some of their shackles and truly move on,unfortunately for ones who have not been deprogramed from the indoctrination often they try to cope by blotting it out of their mind but the deep seated affects of believing deep inside that they have let God and the truth down and are some sort of lowlife that deserve to be shunned and are in line for destruction prevents them from moving on and it cant be blotted out by trying to not think about it,and why so often they go through the humiliation of having to grovel to the elders and sit at the back of the hall suffering the abuse of shunning at the kingdom halls.
How sad!I hope we can help as many as possible.
