Part of the mind control mindset includes cognitive dissonance - a mental process that allows an individual to believe two opposing thoughts to both be true. This cognitive dissonance creates a cult personality.
The opposing beliefs are dissociated to reduce confusion and even guilt from unacceptable practices. I think that is the only way for a person to continue to practice both lifestyles.
At times information may surface to enter awareness of the opposing belief. Guilt and fear may be strong enough emotions to reinforce the dissociation of belief systems and this in turn might strengthen the cult personality.
I see evidence of this cult personality in members who have difficulty thinking and expressing their own thoughts and emotions. The cult personality seems capable of simply reflecting the acceptable thoughts feeling and behaviors of the cult.
It also explains why it is so difficult to get a cult member to really comprehend anti-cult info.
In the case of JWs this cult personality is called the "new personality" and the biblical erroneously validate the cult personality as something to be desired when in fact it is a man-made artifact of cult programming and mind control techniques
Rejoice in the healing and not in the pain.
Rejoice in the challenge overcome and not in the past hurts.
Rejoice in the present - full of love and joy.
Rejoice in the future for it is filled with new horizons yet to be explored. - Lee Marsh 2002
