Its funny how a phone call from a poster can instantly change one’s perception of that person. I suppose that we all have a mental picture of how other members look and talk, so the reality of a phone conversation with a JWD member can be very interesting indeed. I’ve met a few and spoken with others, so, here’s my assessment of some of them:
Norm. Lovely fella, wicked sense of humour, laughs and gurgles delightedly in almost flawless English.
Philo. Witty and very dry, Philo’s posh accent marks him as a man destined for great things.
Chuck D. A business man obviously, amazingly optimistic, understandable too despite the twangy American accent. I think he’s a bit of an Anglophile, uses Brit slang a lot.
Belmont The secretive and cautious Belmont has remarkable insights into dub-dom (40+ years) that can fascinate a listener for hours, nevertheless, Belmont has to lie so low that I wouldn’t even reveal Belmonts gender.
Kent. More serious than I would have imagined, Kents nordic accent is unmistakable. This chappie shows bags of courage when it comes to standing up for himself against formidable odds. His thoroughness comes across too.
UK Trucker Who’s that, you say? More on this enigma later……!
Now, of course there are dozens of other people outside the UK that I would like to have a conversation with, but I shall limit my list to blokes only for obvious reasons!
I will name just a few. Larc, Farkel, Zev, Amazing, Seeker(s), Ozzie, Comf, Fodeja all come readily to mind, there is no point in naming Alan F and others like him as I would simply be too over-awed to be able to do anything other than simply listen.
Actually I wouldn’t mind having a phone conversation with Friday. The miserable old git was quite happy to have me plead for his return here after being dis-associated by Simon, I even wrote his ‘Who’s Who’ column for him and he now won’t even respond to my posts when I ask him a question. Typical dub, I should never have trusted him. I digress, back to the plot.
So then, who would you like to have a one to one conversation with, and what would be the best way of setting up such a meeting?
Englishman.
