Christians used to be sure of what they believed...

History is full of religious believers who have been proven later to be sincerely wrong.

Then I am most glad that I'm not religious... at all... dear Moshe (peace to you!).

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who does know that truth... and sincerity... are NOT the same thing...

Most I have ever met who claim to be 'Christian' don't know Genesis from Revelation. Few had a clue what doctrines their chosen church believed in or what they were supposed to do in their own lives to confirm their faith other than 'do good things'.

Which is a bit of a problem for those like ME, dear shepherd (peace to you!). Because, obviously, most folks... including such "christians"... don't know HOW to act when they run across one who DOES know and have clue... from what Source... and openly, honestly, and TRUTHFULLY professes such.

Ah, well... what can you do? Love 'em all anyway. Because that Source does...

    Again, peace to you!

    A slave of Christ,

    SA

<<Not all people have faith; that is true. Nor is it our job (or ability) to judge anyone for their lack of faith, weakness of faith, or strength of faith. (the first two smak of arrogance, and the last of, yes, jealousy) You are honest in who you are and what makes you tick (as long as you, yourself, knows), and I love that about you. Since I believe in Christ, and He can see through to the truth of us, there is little point in hiding who we are, though most of us do even from ourselves; myself included. Because its often uncomfortable to face certain parts of who we are.>>

Well said Tec. Faith is born of integrity....integrity that realizes and admits the truth about ourselves, about our spiritual poverty and our need of a righteousness and holiness that is not of our own. Everything else is arrogance. Faith is a gift to all who will call upon the Saviour...the very One who stands at the door of our existence and knocks... shouting, "Whosoever will, may come and take of the water of life freely". How much more will the Father give the Holy Spirit/faith to those who ask Him.

I did not look for any deceit in what you posted, at all but gave you the benefit of the doubt (why wouldn't I?). I am saddened to learn that my candor may have been wasted (or so you suggest) because you were never serious to begin with (or you now wish me to believe).

I have just read your post Shelby and I cannot understand what your point is. I have been totaly honest with you and meant every word I said.

I cannot be jealous that Jesus talks to you and not me if I don't belive he exists. What I can be, is jealous of is your illusion which I am unable to share. Illusion offers comfort and respite from reality. It is a luxury I don't enjoy. Of course you belive that I along with many non theists and Christians are deluded. This is of course why we debate these positions on the forum.

I believe that the internet revolutionised the way we think, no wonder now we have more free thinkers, before all you had was a bible that could only be read at church in a language you dont understand latin, and you had to confess and do what the pope told you to do.

Now the bible and other books have been closely examined, my problem with these texts is that god did not do a very good job in making himself known, there is a question mark and the more you look into it the bigger it gets, im not questioning god as in some or more deities we dont know.

The message in the bible or whatever quran/hadifs etc, gods word, you can never be 100% certain if its true, there are things in the bible that pushes you towards its teachings as truth such as all the apostles that have put their lives at risk for jesus, but then there are other things like the prophecy of the messiah's birth place is not the same with jesus. If god is all powerfull it does not make any sense what he did as a means to communicate to us.

Right from the start it does not make any sense, why did god favour one person? one tribe? one nation? (this also applys to muhamed), I found muhamed's teaching of hellfire kinda odd, he at times sounds like an ex-catholic mmmm...

So my answer is I DONT KNOW, that why i am an apatheist because god is apatheist

Vanderhoven7: not picking on you but you make a point I have problems with, you see I can apply your definition of faith to any religion and call it a day.

I agree, Gladiator. Much like a politician who promises, "change you can believe in" and never delivers on the good promises that people read into his open-ended words. We gots lots of change, but not what we expected!

If God really speaks to people, then tell us something important- like what is the secret to "cold fusion", or how can we make photosynthesis work in the test tube? Tell us what man-made chemical is making our kids autistic, how to cure cancer, and finally, how can we cure schizophenia, so people can get the voices that talk to them out of their head?

LOL Falcon. Those videos were HYSTERICAL. I mean who would have thought of putting the deeds, laws and wishes of a blood thirsty, angry, baby killing god to pretty music? It makes it go down so much easier! Praise Cthulu and Peace to You!

I have to agree with Moshe. The voice is too busy telling AGuest things about individuals on JWN to either get them to lightheartedly defend her as "genuine-if-not-strange" or to piss them off or else it is telling her how certain ones here are blasphemers. It has no time left to do anything constructive with her.

If she really has a connection to God thru her voice (feel free to waste your time dissecting that statement, AGuest, instead of addressing the issue), even if it won't cure cancer or schizophrenia or solve problems for starving Africans thru her, I would think it would send her to a more productive field. I would also think that more than one person on the planet could verify that the voice from the Holy Spirit is named SHOELESS JOE METHUSELA or something similar. (Stil waiting to be struck by lightning everytime I type the wrong name.)

No, don't be jealous, Gladiator. The answer is simple. AGuest may or may not have heard a voice in her past. If she did, she dismissed the idea that it was mental illness. But as far as JWN is concerned, she is simply making stuff up and will not back down from her mountain of lies now. People dance around that simple fact here.
