I did not say he should not investigate. He should, and report also.
We have had serious issues in our our neighborhood and the police have encouraged us to call with tags of any vehicles we do not recognize. We are trying to keep our neighborhood safe and it is working. We are finding working with the police has cut down on the crime in our neighborhood. We are determined that the elderly in our town will be safe and not have to live in fear. So if the 80 yr old lady sees someone parked at a house and she has never seen the car- yes the police are encouraging her to call in and they will run the tags for her. They are not calling her a nut job , they are calling her a concerned citizen.
Our plan is working, We are not lazy or nut jobs. We are watching out for everyone who lives here. We have block parties and are all getting to know each other. it is a great plan . this is grass roots government at the community level. A city councilmen was at our last block party. he is proud of us and glad to see our hard work has paid off.
Neighborhood watch groups are encouraged by the police. They are very successful. They help neighborer's get to know each other better and deter crime. we have a place to report conditions in the neighborhood , like dog attacking children or other animals. this way all the neighborhood knows what is happening.
